Hmm, rather than reformat the whole conversation, I'll just drop a link to my website's forums, where I've already got the whole conversation with this scammer posted already. I've got notes posted inbetween exchanges to explain a couple funny gags.
So here it is...
clicky --> U.H.A.C.C. Webmaster takes on scammer <--/clicky
Hope you all enjoy it. |

Your website is dead. It just keeps loading forever, never showing anything. |

I haven't seen any problems on it today. Odd.
The site seems to be up and running just fine. I'll look into the logs, maybe our LUG prez was working on the site when you tried to hit it. |

Well, without knowing your source IPs, I can't say for sure, but I'm fairly certain it's our firewall. We're blocking a number of class A networks, and a class B or two as well.
Let's see, of the ones we're blocking, 80.0.0.0, 81.0.0.0, and 82.0.0.0 are the closest geogrphically. So that's NTLI, Cyberware and Tiscali, which are pretty bad ISPs when it comes to allowing spam relaying off them.
We are blocking other class A's and B's, so if you want to check out our site, fire an email to me with (at least the first three octets of) your IP and I'll let you or your whole class C through.

80.126.14.XXX
ISP: xs4all

probabely the best, most reliable and spam/virus-proof ISP in The Netherlands. |

Ok, I did a quick whois on your isp, they just have two class B's it seems, - 80.126.0.0/15, so I allowed all of that. Give it a try now tweety.
If you others don't have the same first two octets, let me know. I didn't know we were blocking so many class A networks in our firewall. Sorry about that all. |

hmmm, 83.103.0.0 and 213.106.0.0 aren't being blocked in our firewall. At least at the server's level. I'll check with our machine's ISP to ensure they aren't blocking those ranges for some reason.
So I've got no answer... yet.
Unless you two are getting sourced funny.
Hit this website, that'll give me your source ips.
http://12.158.7.75:9080/
One of the other boxes I admin. That should be pretty open, so I'll just check the logs to make sure your ISP's don't source you out another range. |

/not worried about showing that - it's not a static IP) |

83.103 was actually 81.103.29.0 - which we were blocking. So I allowed that whole ISP, which had 8 class C's.
And 80.213.0.0 is open for that ISP's single class B it owns.
Man - what overhead. All in the name of security *sigh*
Thanks all, for being patient and helping me get our firewall opened up enough that decent people can see our site |
