Those scammers don´t ask money at first,it take some time to to know what kind of human you are.
Maybe few months or more,but finally it´s malaria or some other deseace.
Can you help me and send me 50 dollars cos I need medical treatment and quicly,cos otherwise I´m dying.

You feel pity,and you feel like you need to help a poor "innocent" human being.
Good trap to people who are living in western rich world.
That is just beginning,maybe later you will ask for free.
Do you need any help,I can help!!!

MayDay, you are right: some stories can sound very believable. Especially from Romance Scammers.

As far as I know though, regarding West African culture, a person would not normally ask for help outside the family: that would be shameful.

Many West African scammers, therefore, pretend that they have no family.

Don't believe it. Have you heard about the guideline when attending an accident scene: the people who are yelling loudly are the people who are OK? It is the silent ones who need your first aid.

Likewise in suffering countries: the people who have problems are the people who would never use their money for internet cafés: they will spend their money on a little more rice and grain for their immediate and extended families. It is only those who have plenty to eat, and plenty of money for medical care who will fork out money for internet cafés. Which are not cheap. And are only used by those with plenty of food in their bowls and a bounty of good health.

Branwen, This is so right!!! When you really give it a thought, what person who is really in real need can afford to keep calling someone who is 1/2 way around the world from them?? and pay to use the internet ?? also.. They have enough money for these things why would they want your money too?? t

Maybe because they are greedy, obviously they want more and more, probably dont earn enough, so try to scam people to get their extra money!!!

Because they are greedy scum and because they can Evil or Very Mad

While there are people who will fall for their lies, there is going to be scammers there to exploit them.

This is human nature at its best and worst all at once, a victim who would help a stranger and a scammer who would exploit that.

The part that makes this even more sad, the scammers believe it is their right, they see nothing at all wrong with what they have done or are doing.

Well, we have our rights too and I will continue to do what I can to slow them down
