Ok, I wanna know the best movie you have seen recently, and your all time favourite. Im an avid movie watcher (not critical enough to be a buff really) and am running out of download ideas!
Best Recently: Martyrs (french movie, AWESUMZ)
Favourite: Anything from Monty Python I think, but its definately a difficult choice. |

Ah the shawshank redemption is a brilliant film.
Animal Factory is another good 'un on the theme, but it doesnt even touch the sides compared to shawshank... |

A few weeks ago I watched a really good Swedish movie - Let the Right One In.
Don't get the dubbed version. Get the one with subtitles. |

Agh! I hate when they dubb foreign movies - always always always watch with subs, watch the movie the way it was supposed to be watched! I have found a new appreciation for foreign cinema, especially french/german/spanish stuff. Im downloading your Swedish suggestion at the moment.
Schindlers List is a great one, but it is like a week long. You need a serious "Ima Watch This, NOW" attitude or else. No half measures for the Schindler.
Im still suggesting Martyrs - it will absolutely blow you away. It just destroys anything you've come to expect from a horror movie, in my opinion... |

It scores very highly on IMdB.
I was so impressed with it, I went out and bought the book.
That's very good too.

The remake of The Hills Have Eyes was the last really good film I watched. |

The hills have eyes is good, but the sequel ruins it all.
Fear and Loathing is a brilliant film, one of my faves - Im still looking for the book.
Im not really looking for anything in particular, all kinds from all genres really. I just downloaded 'Bongwater' and its absolutely AWFUL.
Open water was tragic, I agree. But The Wanted (I think its this one, with the superhero weavers etc...) was terrible too. Such good CGI ruined by such a pants script... |

Books are always better than the film I think. Theres nothing worse than watching a film after you've read the book and realising the director has totally missed the point...
Has anyone seen a movie called Adaptation? Another great one - about trying to turn a book (the orchid thief) into a movie! |

Caligula had some good ones.
Holy crap! Speaking of worst movies EVER has anyone seen the remake of Funny Games? I want everyone to watch it. It's that bad.
I just remembered another favorite of mine. The Outsiders. Makes me cry every time. |

Im just about to watch funny games - the original one. Im avoiding the remake almost as much as I will be avoiding the remake of Last House On The Left. I HATE when they ruin good movies in the remake... |

I thought Bruno was hilarious - same with Borat when it first came out. Its not that the stuff he does is particularly funny, its just that everyone around him thinks its all real! Thats what never ceases to amaze me. I have to say though, I wonder how much longer he can do this before he is too well recognised to pull it off anymore. I mean, thats 3 movies he's done now - although admittedly Ali G In Da House wasnt really the same idea.
Monster is a great movie too - who would've thought Charlize Theron could pull that off...
"I loved her. And the thing no one ever realized about me or believed was that I could learn. I could train myself into anything. People always look down their noses at hookers. Never give you a chance cause they think you took the easy way out. When no one could imagine the will power it took to do what we do, walking the streets night after night. Taking the hits and still getting back up. But I did and they'd all miss out. Cause they had no idea what I could discipline myself too and I believed in something - and I believed in her."
EDIT: sorry for the double post.
I'll let you off - RC |

I must get a cleaner mind, I googled it expecting it to be a grumble flick (ie NSFW).
My favourites include Blade Runner, The Shawshank Redemption, Get Carter and Monty Python & the Holy Grail.
I watched Australia and Valkyrie last week, both very good.

I refuse point blank to watch the remakes of the Italian Job, Thomas Crown Affair, Get Carter or any other of my favourites they've redone. It's like covering a Pink Floyd track - it's not going to be the same, and if it was, what would the point be?
ETA: What do I know? - I was the one that enjoyed Waterworld, which apparently makes me unique. |
