Why isnt it doing what its supposed to and checking the string - the first one should trip out at the £ ( if not a-z or 0-9 ) or the second one should trip out at the d
one says if NOT got a-z0-9 the other says if only a-z0-9
But it has to be something im doing wrong, but i cant see where. It should tell me that the name dsagae64£Q%\"£ is invalid |

Not sure what language you're using there, but in java and similar you would need commas to separate (What I am assuming are) the arguments there:

The 'die' makes me think PHP db.
I found this example online of the preg_match

It leads me to think it doesn't like your second "^" in there and that you may need another "/". |
