I was looking for a money transfer service to put in my RL business when I came across www.muncha.com. I did research the company, and it appears to be legitimate. But, I am far from an expert in that department. They appear to be a large department store in Nepal, and they are registered as a corporation in TX.

The problem is that the transfer service seems kind of strange to me. The only place you can send money is to Nepal (company base). Out of curiosity I clicked on the register button and it asks for social security number, occupation and date of birth. I have been an agent for Moneygram and Sigue, and the only time that a ss# was ever requested was with a high transfer amount (around $3000 to $5,000). Which muncha doesn't allow a send of over $1,000 the first time. Another strange thing is that there is no scam warning.

My question, does this seem strange to anyone else, or have I just become too paranoid?

Legit or not, I cannot believe that anyone would hand out there SS#. Seems like a really bad idea.

The fact that they asked for a ss# is what made me post here. And your responses made me question it even more. On the link posted by chevy, the same address has 2 businesses Muncha and Grid Data Systems.

No need for a drive-by, Google map has a street view for the address, which is definitely residential.

I took another look at the franchise tax certification and it states "NO STANDING, FRANCHISE RESPONSIBILITY ENDED", which I take to mean that it is no longer an LLC. Muncha House wasn't listed at all.

From the above, I took it to be located in Lexington, KY, but it appears that the owners live in Plano, TX as other searches revealed. A search of the KY address turns up a rental property on one page, and an ad as a Kentucky Wine Store on another.

If you notice in the notes it states send gifts, including wine to Nepal.

To me, something still doesn't seem right, even though it appears to be legit on the surface. I'm wondering if the money transfer service is used for victims to send money. It appears that Muncha set up it's own transfer service, and isn't just an agent.

Of course, I guess it may just be a department store that caters mainly to transplanted Nepalians living in other countries.

I'll study it a bit more and see if I can come up with anything solid before I give up. I don't want to take too much of my time away from verified lads. Thanks everyone.
