ok so I have a Movie Star friend. actually both the terms "movie star" and "friend" are debatable. Let's just say he lives in my home town, and I bump into him at night clubs, and sometimes he makes a nuisance of himself at my place of biz. I'll call him Doodle Bug.

Now if you want to know just how famous, rich and powerful Doodle Bug is, I'll say that over 20 yrs ago he co-starred in a VERY big Oscar hyped movie, so he'll be forever known as "the other guy" in that flick. And he had some good sized parts in top box office movies back then. Now he's more likely to be starring in a Lifetime Television fo deh Womenses original.

And if I told you his name, you'd all go "oh, YEAH! I know who he is! he's really talented" and I'd answer "no, you're thinking of Snuggle Dug, who has a very similar name, but is Asian". and you'd go, "oh, right, I am thinking of the Asian guy".

so that is the Back story. Now the "friend" part. when ever I run into Doodle Bug, he shouts my name across the room and has to do the old hug/backslap thing like we are the best pals in the world. And to everyone there, it looks like it. but we don't communicate except on these random meetings. He has been to parties/casual biz gatherings at my house at least 10 times, yet I have NEVER been invited to his mansion on the lake. NOT that I'm keeping score.

SOOOOOO Doodle Bug has become a political activist, as most "looking for work" actors end up doing. And Doodle Bug sends out mass emails about his new charity, for which he is the celeb *cough* spokesman. Which is all well and good; good for him. Of course, I am on that email list.

Doodle Bug truly is not the Sharpest Tool in the chandelier, nor the Brightest Bulb in the pencil box. When he sends me these big emails, he neglects to Blind cc them.

so I now have a huge mailing list of personal emails of movie stars, entertainment industry insiders, senators, families of former US pres's, Prime minister's wives, Euro royalty, etc. It is truly a goldmine.

The ?? is what exactly do I do with it?

Unless you have a legit reason to contact anyone on the list, there really isn't anything that you can do with it other than be a total ass. Although, having the personal email address of a senator might be handy if you want to go off on some rant or support one of their causes. I'd probablty just put it away somewhere for safe keeping and politely let your 'friend' know what he did.

yeah, they would just block me if I used any of them.

The REAL thrill was finding direct emails of an old TV star I had a huge crush on back in the day, plus that of her personal assistant.

I know I can't use it (she runs a huge entertainment/event company now and would just block me), BUT if I ever RECEIVE an email from her I'll know it's real and not just one of my buddies scamming me!!

I would block your so called 'actor friend's' email addy and delete the multi addressed mails already received from him.

YW is dead right about the Senator. Obviously, those complete and total douche bags should be informed of their wrong doing. But the rest are innocent people.

Well, if this celebrity friend of yours plans on doing Lifetime television, make sure he knows what he's getting into...

I believe your comment about knowing it's for real if any of the celebs actually emailed you is about the only use this list should be put to.

It would be a minor thrill for me, though, to see my name on a CC list with all those stellar names. Smile

sorry no Patrick Dempsey or Nicole Kidman. I'm afraid most of the "celebs" fall into the has-been catagory.

@MoB - he already HAS done a crapload of Lifetime movies - and starred in several Jackie Collins mini-series back in the day!

He has absolutely no artistic integrity about which roles he plays.

In fact, I've come to believe Artistic Integrity is a oxymoron.

If you want to teach Doodle Bug a lesson and make a lot of people angry sell the list on eBay. Or, tell DB that if he doesn't start bcc-ing his email that you will give the email addresses to the Lads with his name attached as the one who gave it to them. You have lots of options here but the best is to delete the addresses and teach DB how to bcc.

What Nasty Nurse said, send him a copy of "E-Mail Etiquette 101" and underline the section on blindcopying address lists.

Oh, and mistakenly send it by "Reply All". That will show everyone he e-mailed what a dunce he is, and also spread the education.

You could include some non-flattering references to his intellect in your reply, because it's just a personal note isn't it? Smile

so Doodle Bug sent me another big mass email yesterday about the bill in congress he's stumping for.

It was BCC'd. Someone else must have drawn his attention to the problem, I never said a word. So he has no idea I even noticed. and my has-been TV star's email is engraved upon my heart.
