You mean 'OS' and it will not stop operating. M$ will just stop supporting updates and you can't buy it in the stores. |

I believe the answer is now. SP3 was the last update.
but all that means is that new drivers will not be ported to XP, only written for vista. But many times third parties will still write drivers so "ending support" means different things. They stopped support for win2000 but many computers still run it. I have one running w2k. |

Here is a news article that explains it and says that Microsoft will be extending support for XP through 2014. Here is another story that says that support will be through 2009 and limited support through 2014.
I think we'll be okay for a little while.  |

I read those articles, So the OS wont stop working, it just wont have updates correct?

Correct. It's Microsoft's way of forcing us to upgrade to Vista. No way - I'll stick with XP even with no updates. |

You could always get shut of Windoze and replace it with a better operating system such as Ubuntu Linux - it's totally free as well ... |

I support Open Office whole-heartedly. It's freeware that can open Microsoft Office files like documents, Excel files, and Powerpoints. Google it! |
