(IMHO) probably depending on context. make sure you say they're real Smile

such as uses the real NAME_OF_WHatever etc.
Or copies the real Name_of_Site at URL

What makes me a little twitchy about this site is the Board Members page....check out the bizarre photos of the members. These are not what a company would provide for their board members page. Check out the secretary picture, it looks like an ad for a door company.

they have:
President
Vice President
Treasurer
Regsitrar
Secretary.

All very laddish titles for companies in the USA.

The word "Barr" after the vice president's name is very laddish
Same with the president who has "Esq" after his name.
You'd also expect them to have some sales staff on their team.

Info on the company says they are in Texas yet the phone number listed is in New York.

Information on the President has a bit of a contradiction on his name. He is Mr Anderson but also called Mr Rosensteel? Nope he has copied the information from Mr Rosensteel's site.

You guys are good. I did a little work too. I have a number of images and screen shots. Here's what I have.

I can probably stretch out the bait a little ,onger, but would like to get this site shut down, the apartment listings pulled and the domain locked. What do I do now?

From home page
company promotes business in Upper West and Manhattan. However, real estate reanges from Souther CA to NY. The first Member in the lilsting is FAN which owns apartment in Richmond, VA (mid Atlantic Coast).

The address is odd in that it is very unusual to use USA in a domestic address

The phone on the front page doesn't match the phone on Contact Us. The CU phone resolves to a land line in Ohio. The other number (according to whitepages.com) doesnt exist.

There is no strucutre at 3812 S Caiptal of Texas Hwy or anywhere nearby. (image yr = 2008, maps.msn.com)

yellowpages has no litsing for apartments related businesses starting with a U in 78704 zip code.

It mentions 15 board members - the Board page has about 8

It speaks of Members but has not solicitation for new members. odd.

Board Members
The bios for the first two came from rflaw (someone mentioned that)

There is NO Anderson White (or similar) that is an Atty in NC. White's surname name changes to Barr on occation in various places.

Harrison Taylor Barr (or anything similar) is not a Attorney in NC. His bio also comes from rflaw.net. His surname swithches between Harrison, Taylor and Barr.

The buiness is located in TX and neither of the bio'd officers are mentioned to be admitted to practice law in TX.

These are Board Members of an association yet have corporate titles (and are listed as corporate members on the member list page).

Neither the Secretary or Registrar are attorneys with 2 attoryeys on the board.

Travis Roberts appears to be wearing a policemans uniform (Canadian?) and Bitteker is an active duty Captain in the US Navy. (The passport he sent me says he was born in 1972 = 36. The website Bitteker is much older)

OTHER
The site was registered in Australia. Someone posted the whois. The address is a home in rural NY. The address is listed as Shane Keyser. Note his name on the site is "Anderson White" on whois, the name is "Anderson White Barr". The phone number resolves to a land line in Culver City, CA

OTHER NOT ON SITE
There are a number of apartment rental sites that list properties for rent at huge discounts to market vaklue ($45 per day for downtown Los Angeles, CA) (google anderson taylor barr). Many of these sites have pictures and floor plans - they don't match.

Additional pictures advertised an electronics store a the Interior grocery store.

I talked to the actual property leasing office - there are no private owners and they do not permit sub leasing.

I was originally offered Suite 2a (the leasing office). On the draft contract the apartment was 7C on the 3rd floor (?). I'd have to check, but I don't think that apartment exists. This will be an easy nail for the coffin.

The rental application asked questions that are patently illegal to ask (religion, nationality). As part of an association that provides lobbying and forms, this makes no sense. The application asked almost no questions that a landlord would want - current rent.

As part of the bait, I sent an email from a bogus mugu that was trying to move in on his maga. Bogus Lad had a change of heart and offered a partnership. I got a clear response (although it wasn't from the same domain)

That's about it for tonight. I "sent" the first payment to im tonight. Unfortunately for Mr. Bitteker, he had turn coat again Ali. So, being pissed off, Ali moved in and snatched the MTCN# and picked up the money. He sent Bitteker a short note:

A question for someone in the UK - is "Barr." an abbreviation for Barrister? As in "Anderson White Barr." This is not a practice in the US.

(remote chance, but, possible as a last name also)
Not common in US (imho) as far as I know. usually US uses Atty or Attorney or variations of those - as far as I know and from dealing with several of them in central US - Maybe different in other US areas or maybe if they deal with international clients
