Did we Brits just give you the keys to the place and wish you good luck, as we sailed off into the sunset? (actually it will have been sunrise, as the UK is Eastwards)

Has to do with the Declaration of Independence (document and action) from the UK as that happened on July 4, 1776. The things you learn for a naturalization test. Laughing

That said, happy birthday Americans! Thank you for inviting me to the party! I only have one question here. WTF were you all thinking handing me explosives and beer in one gesture? Am I supposed to shoot these roman candles at the Brits? Should I douse a pile of fire crackers in gasoline and set fire to them?

Something like that. Though there was a slight disagreement a few years later about the under new management sign we hung up. No big deal though, the White House just wouldn't be the same without that coat of paint covering up the scorch marks. Laughing

Huddling indoors this evening - our town is in the wrong end of the gene pool, and the rural locals like to chase their fireworks with gunshot. Kinda like skeetworks, I suppose. I come from a safer part of the land. Even so, gunshots and all, this isn't a bad place to be.

My mother took that naturalization test, and she's always won the American History trivial pursuit questions in the family games, and she lords it over us Cool

I'm so proud of her for following her dreams and achieving great things so many miles away from her birthplace.

Happy 4th to everyone, holiday or working day. Either way, tomorrow is Saturday!
