Pretty straight bait that I got from the surplus letters section sometime in early November -- POSSIBLY late October, but I don't think so. I started baiting using a fastmail.fm account, but that got shut down for suspected commercial activity, so we pick up with me mailing various permutations of what I thought the lad's email address was, trying to get him back on the line. Don't remember what the initial scam was; just that whoever posted it in the surplus section said it was too plain-jane for them to bother with.

My first letter trying to get the lad back:

At this point I think I was trying to be as impossible as I humanly could while still looking like I was being helpful. Both Mr. Michael and BOA went quiet on me, and I figured they'd had it. I waited a while, and picked up some new surplus letters that didn't go anywhere. After a week or so, I figured I'd give a go at getting them back -- nothing to lose by it, really. Since Mr. Michael was not really an active part of the deal anymore, I decided emailing him would be the way to go:

I am accustomed to a grander level of treatment by financial institutions then what has been shown to me thus far. Perhaps in Burina Faso is may be the case that Social Norns are unexpected to me, but here in Wales we enter into a business partnership in a more cordial mannner than to speak curtly and not respond to questions regrading finger points of the transaction.

My special case in part is this: I wrote to BOA to inform them that the Western Union officer adviced to me that transacting the money required to secure my new account via wire was not within their recommendation, due to reports of Fraud in Burina Faso and elsewhere. Although I shook great pains to secure the officer that I was dealing with a financial institution of highly inpropitious repute, even going so far as to present to him the application documents provided, I was told that I had better to send a secure cheque by international post, that would allow all parties to be insured against and misgivings that might occur. I relayed this information to the management of BOA, and they have not responded at me since DECEMBER THE FIFTH. In today's modern times such laggardliness is not acceptable if an institution of finance is to succeed or compete. I strongly advice you speak with them to rectalize this matter and have them contact me SOONEST to move our deal forward, or I will be forced to leave me no choice but to cancel my account there and surfeit all further negotiations with them. I am sure you understand my position in this case.

My apologise for shafting my lungs at you so strongly about this, but as I have said, I am very frustrated, and since you helped initiate this deal in the first place, and have shown you to be far more dependable than BOA I wished to speak with you before I severe my association with BOA ultimatumally. This email was read 12 times (plus 2 more times by my character) by two individuals: one in Burkina Faso, and one in Cote D'Ivoire. Not sure what that means exactly, but seems like a good thing to me to be generating that kind of interest.

I was sick all weekend, and didn't work on the bait. On Monday morning I had this waiting for me:

This threw me. I'd given every indication that $3320 was on its way. Why rish that for $100. I mean, why would the Bank of Africa ask me to prove whether or not my Bank of Africa account exists or not? Trying to get their hands on my supposed bank account in Wales? Testing me? I posted to the forum about it, and was advised to email Alan with the bank info I'd been sent, so I did. I was also advised to continue with the bait as normal, so I had my lawyer email me with the status of the money:

I understood all the hard work you have done to bring this together, and be shorn that I appreciate it very much. Here is an update of our situation.

My attorney has forwarded to me 900 Pounds from one of my accounts, which was delivered by special courier about a half-hour ago. My ability to make the transfer was incringement upon this delivery, as it completes the total sum required when I combine it with current free cash holdings that I had.

I am working late in my office tonight, and I expect to be here for another hour. On my way home I will stop at the Western Union office to make the transfer as you have adviced. I will email you with the information you need after that.

I think it should clearify what you say "prove of your newly bank account if it do exist or not." Does this mean the account that you created for me, that you sent information numbers already? I can think that you would have proof of this account existence already of your records, or should I forward them to you as cross-reference? Or do you mean if I create another account later that I want to move my money into, that I put a small amount there first?

I cannot write long as I must append to my accounts before I can leave work for the night. I will write again soonest.

I have just return from my bank, where I will make the bank-to-bank transfer. I was adviced as it was somewhat a substantial amount of money to move, that it would best to deposit the 900 Pounds into my current account here in Wales, for it to clear, then transfer to my new account in Burina Faso all in one lumpy sum. This the woman said it took two to three business days to modulate. However, that it was too late in the day (4:00PM) to consider today one business days, the transaction will commensurate tomorrow. So what she said is that Thursday or Friday she will check to see the amount is cleared, then call me to sign over the transfer, but she is holding the information of the new bank account, so all I will have to do is give my signature and it will go through, because the preparations are in place.

I know you have the account information of my bank here in Wales from a previous email to you. Would you check your records on this, or should I email it to you again?
