Should I have him re-state the parameters of his deal and give them to me in writing? I want to have hard evidence that this guy is a scammer, whats the best way to do that? I still dont know what the hell those ponies are.

Out of the hundreds of cops I know, none of them would involve themselves in something like what you have planned. Just woke up and read this thread. Voting prank or lunacy.

Also a part of me thinks that stringing a scammer along for one week is not enough to make him do anything. Hell, I usually get my forms after the the third week, and I have never actually received a signed picture. The only bait I have at the moment that "has an ever so slight chance of turning into a safari" is over two months old.

Edit - and the more I think of it the more alarming it gets -

you leave the scammer at a rest-stop or at the corner of Death Valley or wherever and he thumbs a lift from someone and then .... or attacks someone and ...... shudder shudder ......

you drop him off, he walks into the police station and says you invited him there and robbed him at gun point ........

If your Lad has a US passport, he isn't likely to be the usual internet Lad, and would consider himself a 'cut above'. I presume he must have US connections of some sort, unless the USA gives passports away like M & M's, and if I travelled to a place I had connections, I would expect to have my friends meet me. They probably wouldn't be members of the local knitting group either.

The greatest danger is lookouts in any meet, because if a Lad doesn't spot you, the lookouts will for sure, and if you get trailed by a car, you are setting up the scenario for an episode of 'Miami Vice', not a scam bait.

.... and at the end of the day, if you provide the plane ticket, I imagine it doesn't even qualify as a safari. So you haven't achieved anything until he's in your face - up close and personal - potentially with unknown associates, who may be checking you out as I post.

4 pages into this and I still think we are being baited. No one would ACTUALLY think this is a sound idea, would they? Things like this make me wonder how the world doesn't implode on itself out of frustration sometimes.

Not a single person in this thread has found this to be a good idea (other than the original poster). I think it's an excellent idea. I'd like to see a photo of the scammer next to Big Tex at the next state fair. Speaking of the Texas State Fair - I have a great dip recipe. It's easy to make, also. You take ranch dressing, add cilantro and jalape�o peppers, and toss it all into a blender. I usually use 32oz of the dressing, the leaves from a half bunch of cilantro, and three chopped up peppers, but you'll have to judge the right mix for yourself based on how hot the peppers are where you live. This goes great with tortilla chips and beer!

Hi all, I am Mike's brother. I'm supposed to let everyone here know that apparently the guy DID arrive in Dallas this morning. He and some friends are on their way to Lake Texoma as we speak, this was what I heard from his last phone call, which was around 8:15 this morning. To answer some questions, he flew into DFW Airport this morning. I dont know what the dealership is called for sure. Park Cities maybe? Something to that effect.

In short, this guy DID in fact arrive from Africa this morning....I think this is too funny. I'll update this posting when I hear any news. I still think this is a crazy idea, but its looking to be pretty funny so far.

PS-I dont know if the Big Tex thing was serious or not, but I think that would sure be funny if they could pull it off. As far as I could tell, the plan was to get this guy out to the Lake, get him kinda drunk, and leave him on one of the islands. Sounds sort of juvenile but I'm just the messenger! I have kids to take care of unlike him, so this little 'business venture' was a no-go. Confused

**New information: apparently they have this fella convinced that they have a child-entertainment business/TVshow called "Leroy and the Wiggling Sparkles", where the mascot is a big yellow giraffe with a bunch of little safari animals or something. Apparently the guy is buying it. They've got him convinced that they are willing to invest a lot of money in his "business venture" so that they can 'do more for the kids'. HAHA this is shaping up nicely. We're communicting via text message so I'll keep posting as this unfolds!
