Why? It's not a 419 scam. It's a lottery scam and as such I see no other place for it than here. The 'surplus letters' is for surplus 419 scams.

I see that people are posting lottery scams under 'surplus 419'. In my view, that is wrong.

A 419 scam is the Nigerian advance fee/missing millions etc type fraud. A Lottery scam is a different animal.

I don't want to fall out either, so perhaps a mod will tell us who's right and who's wrong, meantime enjoy the match, but at the risk of falling out, I'd rather be loyal to my Geordie antecedents and see Newcastle win - not that I have the slightest interest in football or any other sport. Cheers!

Tommo's right. A 419 scam is an advance fee scam, you're supposed to pay a couple of fees or taxes before you can lay your hands on the billions. As such lottery scams are (and have always been) just a garden variety of most ordinary 419 and treated as such. Besides that most catcher accounts will receive dozens of them a week so surplus would've been the right forum to post. If at all.

If you still have doubts check the surplus forum for a few fresh lottery scams.
