I'm trying a new twist on this one--still using the Anarctica gig, but ....well...read it and see. Comments and suggestions welcome.

I am Adaba Williams(Esq), a solicitor at law.personal attorney to late Mr.Robert Jones,who was a contractor with European Development company.Herein after shall be referred to my client.

Oddly enough, I am in fact Robert Jones' sole surviving relative. The reason I've been so hard to find is I've spent the last seven years as a missionary and penguin-herder at McMurdo, Antarctica. I thought that's why Uncle Bob quit writing. I never dreamed he died in the Trade centers.

I think perhaps you need to read my earlier letter again, and pay a bit more attention to it.

Robert Jones was my uncle. I don't need to "act" like his relative. I AM in fact the last surviving relative of the Jones family. The money we are discussing belongs to me as my inheritance.

There is no way I will allow you to keep 50% of the money. However, If you will send me a statement that you are willing to give up any and all claims on the money, I am willing to pay you a standard attorney's fee for settling his estate, just because you found out what happened to my Uncle Bob. That would be 5% of the money.

Otherwise, I will have no choice but to contact the bank and tell them how you are trying to grab the money illegally. You could lose your license to practice law, or even go to jail.

Sounds great so far. Not sure whether the whole "he IS ACTUALLY my relative" idea is going to get you too far though. He knows you're not the real relative, you know you're not the real relative. I guess it might get his head spinning at the coincidence but he knows there's no money so it's all really a game at first to get you hooked.

Thanks, Josh. And you're of course correct; he has to know I'm not really a relative because he knows (I hope....) that Uncle Bob doesn't exist!

I tried the 'I am the real relative' approach once on a plane crash scam. It didn't last long though, Laddo seemed to get bored and know I was dicking him around.

Similar experiences here. When I claim to be close to the true relative and have too many "facts", I get dropped. However, if you can be a bit ridiculous, it helps as the lads get their attitude on about how you deserve to be defrauded for lying. I recommend broad generic and insulting statements like "yes I think I may have had an uncle who went to the country of Africa. Was he a white man, if so that must have been him... When can I expect my due money?" Riles 'em up a bit but they will still want to bait you. Just a suggestion...
