How many have eaten or cooked it?
I know it up one side and down the other.
Is there deer in Nigeria? (That's probably a dingy question.)
If so, I will pluck the very end of every nerve a lad may have. |

We eat more deer than beef. The only thing we have more of is maybe trout and salmon. |

I caught 5 more trout just this morning. I have about 50 of them in the freezer right now and am planning on smoking most of them next weekend.
Last season I caught over 200 trout, 16 salmon, and got 1 mule deer, and 1 elk. 2 turkeys (with a bow) and I let a bear go. (he walked right up to me. it wasn't sporting)
For those of you who prefer not to know where your food comes from I am sorry about this post.

You must live in the southern U.S. That's the only place I know of where the squirrel is worth eating. For the record, yes I do like it. However where I live all we have are Western Grays'. Not much meat on them. Instead I have a feeder out back and I like to watch them. As for rabbit, I think it is one of the most under-rated meats ever. Great stuff. Just the hardest to pull the trigger on. Too cute.
You should try one of my favorites, Rattlesnake. mmmmmm good stuff. |

Love it. We eat a lot of deer and elk. We also eat a lot of buffalo. Beef seems to be contaminated all the time, and I won't buy it anymore. The only beef I eat is from a private ranch nearby, and the owner is a friend of the family. |

Raise our own beef, know what goes into it (our own alfalfa and grass hay) and shoot prairie dogs for sport... er... um... varmint control.
EDIT: Wayward "r" |

@Phog,
As I get older I find that I use a compound more and more.

Funny you should mention that. Right now here in Washington there is a big beef scare.

IMHO Living with nature and damaging it can be a very fine line. However I don't have a good recipe for prairie dog and I know they are a problem in your line of work. |

@ B. A. W. I just thin the herd so they don't get out of control, so that makes it like hinting deer or elk... only smaller...
I have threatened to collect and cook, but the family promises to mutiny if I do. It would be like eating blue gill, a lot of work for not much meat. I did find a hedgehog recipe or two...
We encourage the foxes and bald eagles to do most of the work. |

Yummy!
Bambi Schnitzl!
Does it taste anything like cat?
I used to live down the street from a horse butcher (in Salzburg). Very good salami, great steaks. |

When I lived in Germany, I loved the salami that was available there. When I was informed that it was mostly horse I had a hard time with it. I got over it though.
Magnificent beast. Even better salami. I think I would still rather bet on them than eat them though |
