I'm looking for a group of you to YIM bait a particularly stupid lad. How stupid you ask? Stupid enough to give me my latest avatar stupid. You'll have to be willing to chat with "her" on Yahoo Messenger as part of the bait is to waste as much of his time as humanly possible. Pardon my n00bness for asking this question, but is there anyway the mugus/vlads can get your IP address if you talk to them on YIM? I'd be in on this, but of course I want to bait safe first and foremost Smile

The odds of having a lad that knows how to check an IP address from a YIM session are practically zero. I've never had one, and only ever had one check it in an email I sent him. If you're worried, go to http://www.ip-adress.com/ and see where your IP address shows you as. Is it anywhere near where you are? The one that checked mine saw me as being a 4 hour drive from where I really am. That's almost halfway across the country.

I go to college at a US university, so my IP is pretty easy to track. That website nailed my location dead on, including my zip code and coordinates Confused

(although the coordinates have me living in some grass field a mile or two away).

Thankfully, it's a large campus (30,000+ students), so they'd never find me here.

If you're at all worried then I suggest you pass on the bait. This lad is pretty dumb, so the chances of him even knowing what an IP address is are really low. But do what you feel comfortable doing.

The Lads are flat out dumb and don't know how to trace an IP. I worked a bait using an email tracking system. When I finally revealed myself and told him how I knew he was traveling all over the country (part of my bait was me being a psychic) he kept asking me how I tracked his email. The guy couldn't even "Google" email tracking software. LOL

You can use a proxy on yahoo messenger. They'll never know where you are from with the ip address they get.

I use http-tunnel proxy. you can also use it at work and the admin's won't know what you're doing...it's all encrypted.

I'd like to play too if it's not too late, but it would be my first time so I won't take offence if you think it's better suited for experienced baiters. I've had IM conversations over several weeks with people who have turned out to be scammers but that was before I discovered baiting so i just dropped them when they asked for money.

I'd guess trying another round of sign the scanties so soon after I did it would make the lad think that either it was me again, or someone I know is messing with him. Try a different approach. There's plenty more things you can get the lad do, and he's already proved he'll do it if you slap often and hard enough.
