Has anything like this been done before?

If not would anyone like to get involved? I'm hopeless at the website building etc.

We could start a new American company who have got a huge amount of money to build a factory / church / university in Africa.
We will send out questionnaires for market research to all the lads.
If they fill them in they will get a large amount of money as a reward and to collect it they will be invited to attend our grand opening located somewhere in the middle of nowhere.
We can provide them with pics of the construction of our building and of course have a website detailing everything.

Imagine if we could get a load of lads all turning up in a field somewhere at the same time to collect their money expecting a big unveiling ceremony! Smile

Interesting thought. The old Mass Bait of SP's is winding down a bit.
Yes it would take a bit of setting up but sometimes the dedication of resources would be worthwhile.
I would go along the idea of sticking to one country, away from the previous mass bait and start the build up slowly with the target date for launch far enough away so that we can build up lists of lads and see what 'home team skills' we can put together to share the load.

I wouldn't mind helping out on this. Depending on my lad load at the time, I would like to join in on this. The best way to have it done, in my opinion, is to make the destination somewhere like Lome, Togo or Abuja. Somewhere that is not too far, but still quite an inconvenience. I say Lome because that is somewhat central to Accra lads, Ivory Coast lads, Lagos lads, etc. Abuja works well for those already in Nigeria.

Ok how about this...

We will build a "Religious Education Centre of Excellence"
It will open sometime around the beginning of June.
In the meantime we will send out market research forms.
The lads will be paid 10k to fill out these forms.
They will collect the 10k at our "Official Openeing Ceremony"
At the ceremony they will be made honourary life members which will entitle them to future profits from the centre.

We will need forms (really really detailed of course)
A website for our organisation which will show building progress.
A decision on a place

How about a research hospital to be founded by an NGO that just got a huge grant from the Gates Foundation.

If they participate, they get to use the honorific "Dr." in front of their names.

^^ Sounds good, I just thought of trying to make it some sort of religious thing as they tend to do what God tells them

Cool idea for a mass safari, just try to not step on my game:

http://forum.419eater.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=108070

What kind of payment do you think will motivate lads to go on safari, and how many of them will believe that they'll get that amount for just a market survey? Do you think 10K makes sense for that?

The Chairman of the NGO could be a man (or woman) of the cloth. That would combine religion plus healthcare. You could send articles about the Gates Foundation allocating $$$ to fight AIDS and malaria.

Once they arrive at the site, their travel expenses will be reimbursed, but they will need lots of documentation, of course.

These kinds of emails have been sent out for quite some time... I don't think it will step on 'your game'.

Does $10k make sense? Heck no, that is why we are sending it. IMO, we want the REALLY stupid lads. We want the ones that will believe that all they have to do is fill out a form and they will get $10k. Does it make sense to get a tattoo for your church membership? Nope. Does it make sense to hold a fish on your head or take a bath in Cheetos? Absolutely not! That is why we do it!

@Prolix

I'll make sure not to step on your toes Smile

I dont think 10k is a sensible payment for a survey but when a lad sees figures he generally only sees figures and doesnt give a thought to what hes had to do for it. That combine with the huge corporation might make it more plausible.

No, how about $20 to $50 per survey, they each need to recruit X number of friends to fill them in.

In addition to the money for the surveys and the honorary degrees, there could be a door prize. One lucky lad can win $10,000. To benefit his village, of course.

This doesn't have to make sense guys...

First off, a lad doesn't travel for $50. It needs to be in the thousands. Secondly, a lad who is greedy is going to be blinded by it, which is just what you want. He will not travel for a door prize. HJS has the right idea for a safari.

I told my lad who made the Lads of Lagos calendar he would make $75000 for it. Does that sound reasonable? Heck no. But he did it!

Ok, my minds attempting to get going....

We will be an NGO called "Adulescens" (This is the Latin word for lad)

We have gotten a huge grant from the "Jesus Foundation" (Dont want to use the Gates Foundation as they are real and Jesus always appeals to the lads)

We will be building the "African Research Scientific Enterprise" (Or ARSE for short)

Well of course not, that's why he needs to have lots of "friends" fill in the surveys. But you're right, it doesn't have to make sense. My thought was that requiring each one to come up with 20 filled-in surveys makes more work for them, plus makes it a little more realistic.

I have a tendancy to get too into the back stories.

Perhaps the Jesus Foundation (is that short for What Would Jesus Do Foundation? I think I've seen your bumper stickers) was founded by a group of wealthy Christians who are alarmed by the tendancy for medical research to be funded by secular high-tech types. They have donated a huge sum of money to ARSE, they want to fund anti-AIDS and STD education projects, but they need to be based on abstinence and fidelity. Maybe they can research faith healing as well.

Perhaps they could offer a bonus to those who fill in an on-line vow of chastity. There could be a guest book where participants sign in to say how they're doing.

Your market survey needs a medical section with some cringe-inducing personal questions. Also some highly personal questions about sexual history. All this is relevent, after all.

Scurries from lurking shelter:

If you can snare more than one, perhaps a suggestion from an "assistant managing director" can "privately" and "secretly" e-mail them. This assistant may have been introduced earlier by name in a form or something. Anyways, the "Assistant" suggests that there is competition from other companies--even a "legitimate" one run by a scambaiter for further scambaiting in the future. The ideas can be that the scammer has to get to the location before everyone else.

Or, the "Assistant" can claim to put in a "good word" for a "trophy"--"I've always wanted a fine carving of"--so the scammer will be chosen.

Scurries back into lurking shelter:

The best thing to do, is keep it simple. Keep the story simple, keep the tasks relatively simple. They don't want to do a lot of work for the money. Keep it straightforward. There does not need to be a big back story, they won't read it anyway, trust me. They want to know about 3 things:

1. Money
2. The task
3. Money

That is it. This is a fine idea and, if executed properly, could result in a lot of fun.
