gmail ?

Is their a way to have two or more gmail accounts open, I have
three addys using totally diff. names, but If I have one open It closes
the other, this is quite confusion when working baites when I need to
work from one to the other, has anyone else have this problem, or is
this just the way gmail is..., are their any solutions?

You can access the login page here. Bookmark it and open a page for each account then sign in individually.

What I use, and is extremely handy is the Gmail Manager extension for FireFox.

It simultaneously logs you into every gmail account you have.

That doesn't work, Dan. That link just brings up the existing mail page.

The problem is almost certainly the cookies. So to solve it you need some way to use a different set of cookies for each gmail window.

The dirty way to do that is to use one browser for each account. Open the first with IE, the second with FF and so on. (Just tried that and it works.)

If you're using Firefox, you might try creating a new profile. It may be that each profile can be logged in to gmail separately.

@thud, two diff. browsers work fine,

@dd, does not work

@GoldDalek, installed g manager, no icon in task bar, did close
all open windows, restart ff, also im using latest ff,

I'm wondering, could it be that I'm saving username and password?
I have gmail button below my address bar, and I click it to open gmail,
tho it opens the last one I had closed,

Are using FF 2.0? If so, I think this extension only works with 1.5 (could be wrong)

This is what I see when I select the icon in the bottom right of the browser window (I'm using Mac OS X, you screen will be slightly different on Windows/Linux)

yes, I'm using the latest FF, your right, don't think it works
with 2.0 or later Ff

I'm using FF 2.0.0.1 and the gmail manager works just fine.

@ crossfire. The easy solution is to use a different browser for each account. Firefox, Mozilla, Opera, IE etc

yes, if i use IE, and FF its works fine, but if I have two FF open it still
will log out the other, I think it has something to do with saving username
and password, not sure tho Confused

, seems to wok for you guys, I'm using
XP Pro, if that has anything to do with, I'll keep at till I find the solution,
but Hey, if it works for yall it should work for me also, I still haven't
found that gmail manager icon tho, I've looked top to bottom, side to
side for it, its not their, I reinstalled it again, still not their

^^^^ The login details are held in a cookie. Normally, you can only have one account open in any one browser because the cookie is specific to the browser, not the account. If you have 'manager' software, that fools the browser into allowing multiple accounts open at the same time by spoofing cookies for the various accounts as an when required in the background.

Hey, I found it, tools - addons, gmail manager, click options
add my addy address , now it gives me my status bar, lower right,
yep, open new browser, click which mail I want to open, this is so Cool

Even with gmail manager, it still logs out the other gmail window I have
open with gmail, so to use I have to have to different browsers, FF, IE,

thud419, I dont have profile manager, I'm only using their free email
or am I still overlooking something?

DD what operating system are you using? Which I really don't think
this matters.

but Hey!, if I have to use two different browsers, thats better than
nothing, wright.

The easiest way is to create your multiple accounts, then set the other accounts to all forward into one account. Then you can set it so that you can send mail from one account that appears to be coming from the other accounts. Look in Settings>accounts, or ask me for more detailed instructions. This will let you manage multiple accounts with one account and is convenient as hell.

That's what I do - 5 gmail a/cs and 2 yahoo forwarding to the main gmail. Unfortunately Yahoo seems to have stopped forwarding, though I can still send them from that gmail a/c via yahoo.
