To bait or not to bait?

Hello baiters,

I'm new to this scambaiting thing and need some advice. So these vlads contact me around Christmas time posing as some Russian girl. I was able to tell right off the bat that the messages she was sending me were products of cut and paste jobs, but I'll admit that I was gullible enough to think that this was some real chick flirting with a whole bunch of guys. I felt bored, so I flirted back at her. It took me about a week to realize that the whole thing was a scam. For a few days I thought I had scared her off by posting her photos and messages on a couple of blacklists and by getting her kicked off the dating site through which she contacted me, but today she showed up again.

Now since I have been using my personal Yahoo account, I'm not sure if I should bait her or just slap her and let it drop. Other than my personal e-mail address, these vlads have my real full name, a couple of pictures of the real me, a real landline number, and they know which town in Germany I'm in. That's it. Is there a good reason not to bait her? I mean, I'm planning on moving out of the country in a few months and will certainly change landlines anyway. Nor would I mind changing to a different e-mail address after the whole business.

Your views would be very much appreciated.

Glad you realised 'she' is a scammer (it could actually be a 'he'). The general rule here is that if your scammer has ANY personal info about you then you should drop her/him immediately and make NO further contact. You may be moving in the next few months but if they have your full name and other details you are putting yourself at risk by continuing to bait, let alone from a Yahoo account which displays your IP address and is NOT safe.

Seriously, drop this scammer now. If you want to bait then take some time to read the Stickies and Nurse Nasty's PM and once you have absorbed that information, specifically about setting up a safe email account (Gmail, hushmail, fastmail) then by all means bait some lads/vlads but remember that your personal safety is the #1 priority.

100% drop. I think unless your name is "M�ller" you can be traced quite easyly by any vlad or baiter. Luckily lads do not have any reason to track you or molest you unless they suspect you are a baiter.

If you feel you must have a revenge for [email protected] making you belive in her, you can allways

1. Ask some fellow baiter to take over with her.

2. Wait a few weeks and start a new bait (via ASEM) from a fresh gmail account with a character totally unrelated to you (best living in Australia or the USA).

NEVER EVER bait on, when you compromised the tinyest small info of your real self to a lad. BAIT SAFE. Don't forget these are REAL CRIMINALS and they may not like the idea of you interfering with their business model.

Thanks for the advice. Sure, I�d love to see someone avenge me, so if any of you out there want to take her on, please share quotes and pics with me, okay?

If she calls, I'll pretend I can only speak German. Or do you have better suggestions?

^^ uhm, if you already corresponded in english, I don't think the can only speak german will work.

. Instead if "she" calls, upon you being asked for, tell the caller they have a wrong number. After, if you receive another email, a simple 'now is not a good time in my life" or something that flows and never further contact should help keep you all the safer.

Those of us here who that scammer does not have real info on will have a new beeyotch to toy with. Looks like the pic "[email protected]" sent you is something pulled from a my5pac3 acct

Gotchya. I have a couple questions.

Why is it best to pose as someone from Australia or the US? How do you find out so much about a photo that these scammers send you? More specifically, how can you find out whether these photos are already somewhere on the internet?

I�m sorry if these questions seem a bit silly to the experienced baiter, but I am new here.

Please let me know if any of you take on my Russian friends, okay?

To answer part of your question, Australia and the USA are a LONG way from Germany. I'm in Oz but bait as a UK person. No lad has ever questioned it (I also use gmail so he can't check my IP). It's just an additional precaution to safe baiting. As for the photo, you'd be amazed how many scammers use and re-use pics, often of models posted on the net, so people here often recognise them.

And don't worry about asking 'obvious' questions. That's what the forum is here for. Better you ask and get good advice than try to guess and run into problems. Having said that many of your questions can be answered by reading all the Stickies, ongoing baits and completed baits. There is a wealth of information here if you take a little time to study and learn from it.

Yup, that's her alright. Her name, her girlfriend's name, her hometown and her birthday are all the same. You'd think these Vlads would write new templates once in awhile.
