So, what does anyone think of my first ever bait do far?

He is testing you. The fact that he could not open the dll file has made him suspicious. He will now want a second photo of the same person to verify that it is really you.

The problem with sending any photos to a scammer is that your photo (presumably it is just something you harvested off the internet) may end up being used by your scammer on some innocent victim.

There have been lengthy lists of ideas posted her of what to do when the scammer asks for a photo. Besides the "dll" idea, say:

(a) I don't have a passport.
(tell the lad it will take you days to apply for a passport, but you are willing to do it for him. Of course, you will have lots of questions for him about how to apply for a passport)

(b) I don't have a scanner
(ask the scammer what brand to buy. You will need several days to actually buy it. You will then need lots of advice on how to hook it up. Then there will be problems when it does not work . . . )

(c) I sent it, but my e-mail was intercepted by the CIA who notified me that I was violating US law, in the wake of 9/11, by sending a scanned e-mail of a passport.

I was just like you when I started my first baits. I wanted a trophy within 3 emails or otherwise what was the point of it all.

I have since learnt that you have to take it slowly and the trophy has to be a vital part of him getting his money. I have a current bait which in 6 days time will be 6 months old and I got my first personalised photo trophy from him about 2 weeks ago. We are approaching 300 emails and I now realize that I get a lot more pleasure out of dragging a bait out for as long as possible than I do from the instant gratification of a trophy.
