You claim that you are being exploited because you are working as a junior doctor in Britain. As a former civil servant who specialised in training and recruitment of medical students, I could give myriad examples of why that statement is patently false and full of shit.

I too can give examples of hardship, growing up in a community screwed over by Thatcherism. I am a decent and honest person who will go out of his way to help because I care about people.

If you want to quote history. The slave trade could not have operated without slave traders from Africa preying on their own people. What about the slave trade in white prisoners of the Barbary Coast pirates in North Africa and the Middle East?

You insult Bob Marley by using him to justify criminals stealing from the poor, vulnerable and generous by lies, deceit and cold calculation. If Christianity meant anything to you, you would be condemning the lads for their evil. The scammers claim to be criminal, if there was a Christian God, then surely these criminals would burn in hell.

how is it that you, who have come from the same circumstances, have become a dr, to help people, and cure illness, yet others from the same circumstances prey on people?

Like said above, it is the choices that you have made.

The pictures, etc... while being humiliating serve 2 purposes.

1 The are amusing. Yes, I know it's cruel, but they are funny (who doesn't crack up when they see a guy with a loaf of bread on his head???), and that is part of the point. People are more likely to look at a site with funny things on, and learn the dangers of this crime, and can tell their family and friends. it is a way to combat this crime by educating people. which if you do not condone criminals then you may understand.

2 It wastes peoples time and money. If it can be made so unprofitable to scam people, or so humiliating, then that person may stop. And if they don't then it's an hour or 2 of their time that they will not spend on trapping further victims.

Altho we welcome Drs from other nations, we do have a lot of home grown ones, so I don't think you leaving the UK is really likely to cause the lack of dr.s u describe. The NHS is shite tho, so sorry mate, we work our dr.s to the bone, but be glad you aren't a nurse. it is much worse for them. even less money, no respect, and lots of poo

Hi Segun and welcome to 419eater. You are not the only Nigerian here! That said, you really do need to do a little more research before condemning us. Might I suggest you read this thread http://forum.419eater.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=32877 before making facile comments.

I grew up in Nigeria and was present during the independence celebrations back in 1960. I met people like Zik and Chief Awolowo who I am certain are spinning in their graves as they see how your fellow countrymen have ruined a once beautiful country with huge natural resources.

Yes the attitude here is distressing, but unfortunately, the attitude of the members of this forum is based on experience and knowledge.

As the proverb goes "Rather than tell a lie to help a friend, it is better to assist him in paying the fine for his offense."

It is up to people like you to persuade the political class that they need to stamp out these people in order for Nigeria to regain its rightful place in the world.

My wife works in the NHS. She probably does as many hours as you, including nights, weekends & on call work for a hell of a lot less money than you.

As an MBChB I'm guessing you studied at one of 9 possible UK universities. I'd be interested to know how you funded your studies? I have 2 daughters. The eldest would have loved to have gone to university. Unfortunately, as ordinary working folks the state deem it uneccessary to assist financially with her further education & we couldn't afford the course fees, books, residential costs & general cost of living for her. So, she now holds down a full time job & starts studying in October with the Open University. As well as being employed for 40 hours per week, pretty much every evening & most weekends will be taken up with studying.

Do you have much of a social life Segun?

My youngest will be University age in around 2 years. Sadly, we're unlikely to be in any better financial position. Perhaps you would like to furnish me with an email address, so I can get her to email you & see if you could help with the cost of her education?

When I said that Nigeria meeded more people like you, I meant people with a positive outlook and a desire to help others.

I did not say that Nigeria needed excuses for the behavious of its criminal elements, or an apologia for the corruption that 419ers represent. Unfortunately, that's what you are providing, and that is a foolish exercise.

Ultimately, Nigeria has to take responsibility for itself. We can't transform its culture - that has to come from within.

That's not true at all. No child has ever had to be taught how to lie or steal. An honest person grows up and realizes that it is wrong to lie and steal. A criminal never brings himself to that conclusion.

why dont you do a little experiment segun. bait any lad for a while and when you burn them, ask why they do it and if they have made any effort to get a/concentrate on theyre real job. you will probably get something along the line of "you westerners robbed us blah blah blah..." and when theyve had their little rant, tell them your real nationality and occupation. will their tune change? who knows! not knowing is half the fun.
