Hello All,
I have a new safari that looks like it is about to begin. It is not to Darfur this time but to the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in Uganda. What does this mean? It means that all of the folks out there that are so worried about anything unfortunate happening to a lad can relax. The only thing that can go wrong this time, is that perhaps a gorilla (the hairy kind this time) might go nuts and rip a lad from limb to limb. As cool as that would be, especially if I were lucky enough to get a picture of it, this is pretty unlikely.
Now, please do not get your hopes up here. Keep your expecations really low. Even though this is a very long journey, this safari will probably not be anywhere near as compelling as the last one. Let's face it, that last one is a tough act to follow. But make no mistake, this will be an enormous inconvenience and expense to say the least. The Impenetrable Forest is 1800 miles away from Johannesburg.
As always, I invite any constructive critisism or suggestions.
Enjoy

This looks interesting. Have you decided how you're going to handle his idea of getting someone to meet him at Ruhija yet? |

Actually, Ruhija was my idea. And, no. I have not really figured out what I am going to do about that yet. Obviously, no one is going to meet him there so I will have to come up with a way to either keep the lad there for a few days or keep him traveling around all over the place. |

Not bloody likely. I have never known a lad to even own a gun, and if he did there is no freakin' way he's going to be able to smuggle it over several borders. Unless you're afraid he's going to try and kill a gorilla with his machete. |

This lad is flying to Uganda. There is no chance in hell that a gun is getting on the plane. |

ja ja, no worries.
even if he byes a rifle there, I very much doubt he is ever going to meet wildlife.
He is looking for a bloke sitting on a trunkbox of money not a poacher.
I woner if he is going to employ locals to lead him there?
that would cost some cash. |

Oh c'mon- doesn't anybody see what country is directly north of Uganda? It's our old friend the Sudan... my guess is that the dastardly scientist is going to have to take flight from the meeting in Ruhija and make a run for the border- get this lad up to familiar ground in Kartoum, and have HIM search for the other two missing nimwits from the Dharfor trip. |

Good luck with this one! I hope he brings some travel companions with him as well. I hope you get a picture of the guy before he goes (or after), that way we can Photoshop it in a bunch of hilarious ways when/if the guy sees the site at the end. |

Oh, I will definately be getting a picture of whoever is coming. What I am furiously trying to do now is to get a second lad, unrelated to this bait, to show up to meet the first one. It probably won't happen but that would be some funny shit if it did, especially if I told lad #2 that he had to become Robert Fitzwell. |

Personally, I think it would be more significant to have two lads meet in the jungle and have one of them ask,

Another Nice Work...
It would be awesome if we can get a lad to hire a camera man to document the expedition.
Tell him that gorillas love to be stared into the eyes. Make direct eye contact to show friendship and bonding. |

Gorillas also like to be smiled at. Show 'em lots of teeth and a nice big bright grin so they know you're a friend. Also, tell 'em not to bother to bring any sort of insect protection as I sure there will be no flying/biting/stinging insects of any sort. All the water is safe to drink untreated as well. |
