Law only applies in the US of A, however if you were to annoy an American citizen enough, I suppose you could be extradited if the nation you are in also has such laws and is willing to turn you over. The USA has Mutual Legal Assistance Treaties (MLAT) with a number of nations. I'm pretty sure Nigeria is one of them. But I somehow doubt anyone would be extradited over this law.

@Skip - It'd have to be one hell of a voo doo curse to prompt extradition. Something like Monty Python's Funniest Joke in the World. For those unfamiliar with it, it was so funny, it killed anyone who read it.

In summary, this law will only be used to censor people that criticize people with power. I think the odd flamewar won't cause any problems. I wonder how this stands up to the first amendment?

The most ridiculous part of this law is that it's OK to annoy someone if you don't do it anonymously. So as long as there's a name next to the annoyance it's legal. But if it wasn't your real name it would be illegal. But how would anyone know? Fcuk you all!

Yeah, but if it takes obtaining an attorney, you have already lost. This law will be selective enforced, just as constitutional rights are being selectively withdrawn. I will stop here because of someone's mainframe computers reading all internet traffic.

^^^ If you're worried about someone's mainframe computers reading all Internet traffic, perhaps you weren't familiar with the Echel0n program? USA, Australia, NZ, Canada, UK, France and Germany are all tied into that one. I think it was the Aussies or the Kiwis that spilled the beans on it. I had an interview with one of the agencies tied to it as an intelligence analyst (BTW all you unemployed English majors, there's a job for you)

The interviewer wanted to know how I knew about that system, denied any knowledge of it, etc. So you know it's definitely real.

I think they mainly do the monitoring to get competitive trade advantages and anti-terrorist intelligence and military intelligence. In fact, one of the interview questions went like, "If you were passed a message intercepted from a foreign embassy that contained vital information that could have an impact on our nation's trade relations with another nation, would you be comfortable working with it?"

More bad law creeps in attached to good law. I wish it was against the law to attach any bill to another bill. But the good news is that it's a federal law which means that nobody is going to get too worked up about filing any charges and if they do arrest and convict you'll stay in a nicer class of prison. Hold on, I think that this law is annoying me...... who wrote it.
