Time for a change
419Eater has been around since October 2003. Since that time, we have welcomed over 70.000 members (that's 70,000 members for those over the pond) who have written over 1.7 million articles.

A lot has changed since the first days of Eater. Internet is getting more and more accessible, with many users (and lads) using mobile devices to access the forum. The admins felt the current software Eater is using just doesn't cut it anymore. It is no longer being supported (running an older version of phpBB) which means it is increasingly difficult to add new features or maintain current ones. Furthermore, the user experience on mobile devices is not optimal.

Behind the scenes, the admins and mods have been working to set up a new forum, using a higher version of phpBB. This means a more modern look and feel, additional features, and the possibility to add functionality in an easier manner.

Unfortunately, it is impossible to transfer the content of the old forum to the new one, so the new forum will begin "empty" (with the exception of some stickies). The old forum will stay online and accessible, but will be a "read-only" forum.

As the user information (name, password etc) is stored in an encrypted database, it is also impossible for us to transfer that information to the new forum. This means you will need to register with the new forum

Please register there using your current username from here and we will begin to transition there over the next several weeks. It is important you use your current username. We certainly don't need two bwares. We apologize for delays, but current world situations make already difficult coordination across time zones even more difficult.

The new forum gives us a more modern look and feel, different features, and some advantages as we go forward. However, some features may change, may not be immediately available, or may be adopted in the future. Much of this current forum is custom coded and it simply will not work with the new software.

We feel it is more important to make the migration now and adapt as time allows. We hope to welcome you at https://aff.419eater.com/

FAQ

Do I need to sign up with the same username / email I used on eater?
We recommend signing up with the same username you are using now. If you choose a new user-name, please send a PM to a moderator with your previous username and email so we can make note of it, especially regarding things such as your premium status. A change of username may cause difficulties and increase the time for approval.

Do not impersonate other members (ie no signing up as Rover)

I just paid for a premium membership. Does this carry over to the new forum?
Yes, please PM any moderator with your eater username with which you signed up for Premium so that we can apply the benefits to your profile on the new forum.
