@Sarge Scambag - the name works well! You were right; you should use a name not connected to any other real life account. If, however, you'd like it changed, just let any mod know (their names are in green).

As for a mentor, once you have posted, you are eligible to join the CMP. It's also helpful to read your PMs. You can tell you have one by the word (new) next to "Messages" at the top of every page. Like this:

Usually it works that way, but it's not a guarantee. Mine always says that, but it's hardly ever true.

Hi, all.

Completely new to this sorta thing (and to be honest, to posting on forums, too - any advice on that would be great too. Sorry, to ask for that, especially somewhere like here...).

I decided to try scambaiting for myself after seeing a few YouTubers who I watch do it. Honestly, after reading some stuff, I thought it would seem easy, but, I've hardly ever gotten spam emails. Ever.

And I thought it would be easy to get even a few spam emails.

Anyway, would be happy for any pointers or advice on the best way to start, because, I really want to try this out, and *hopefully* get some scam emails this time.

@Linoline, check it now. That issue should be reported here: PM always showing "NEW'. It is typically caused when someone sends you a PM then goes back and deletes or edits it. Mods can fix it.

@TheBoringNewbie, I suggest not waiting on the lads. Feel free to pick through any of the ones listed in our Surplus Forum or at ScamWarners.com and email them, simply acting like your fake email character received the scam script. Lads email so many different people they don't keep track of who they contact.

As for posting here, you've done just fine!

Hi All...Reader and fan for a very long time but the gay photos have had me cracking up so much I thought it high time I registered!

I don't bait myself but have access to a Spam Filter that still catches so much of the 'I am on my last legs and want to give you USD 6,500,000 from my late father's oil industry work' that I'm fascinated anyone has ever actually become a victim.

What's more astonishing...and impressive...is the things you get these idiots to do!

Make up a baiting character and an email address, grab a mentor, and start baiting! You can also post scam emails you get for the rest of us to bait.

As Vonpaso suggested: get setup, get a mentor, and start baiting (Safely).

Above all: be safe. Do not use your regular emails account or name, but make a new one with info that has nothing to do with your real persona.

Ah yes, it IS a fun hobby! Definitely not any kind of addicting sport. No, no. Not addictive whatsoever; just a fun, innocent hobby that I'm sure you'll be able to put down any time you want. That's what I always say, ha ha. ha.

Have you seen the SURPLUS 419 SCAM LETTERS? They're all free lads! Have a handful or more! Totally NOT addictive and 100% risky free.

Hi G!

Welcome to Eater.

You can get your email known to the scammers, by writing a message here for example. Also, some our mods run the "Lad Transit" , where you can sign up to receive spam mails.

Alternatively, pick a pet to play with from the Surplus forum, or from www.scamwarners.com.

If you are new, I recommend getting a mentor (see my signature). They can help you get set up and bait safely.
