I was wondering if anyone here knew anything about this scam or annoyance - I don't even know if it's a scam really. I'd like to get to the bottom of what exactly this individual's objective is. It's confusing to me because there's no sick relative or asking for bank info as we usually get.
As far as I know, they mostly call or text, so obviously no baiting.
I want to know what they're after and why they keep calling Brazilian Jiujitsu (bjj) gyms with a very similar script - they're from Puerto Rico, moved to the US recently, they are a brown belt (which is a high rank in bjj - white, blue, purple, brown, black), they offer to fight people, they want to leg lock and break knees, ask if a thong is ok to wear (ibjj federation rules prohibit that for competition for whatever reason, but gyms have no policy ), and ask how many women are in the classes.
Someone on a jiujitsu forum I'm on found out it is likely a man posing as Paulinda - she picked up the phone and said nothing and apparently he spoke as a man? Maybe? Also, the caller will not speak to men.
I just want to know what you all think is the objective for this person calling hundreds of bjj gyms asking these questions.

I'd agree with Bertje, I don't see a scam here, just a perv who gets off on calling up gyms . |
