A truck ran over my boat. That's a good excuse for the mail not getting through if ever there was.
They don't make 'em like this any more. WWII Submariners actually tried blowing up a train on a coastal line with torpedoes.

WWI The E11:
Guy D'Oyly-Hughes. A all round nutter (and personal hero of mine) of the first order. He was a bit more conventional. Swam ashore with a bag of high explosives and set a bomb under a railway line. I bet he was calmly chuffing away on a pipe while he did it. The exploits of the Captain and crew of the E11 in the Dardanelles are from another time.
