Nice to catch here. It's been a while.
The short version "I'll send you stolen money if you sent me a cut"
Middle man - Ill end up in jail

The long version

I had a phone call today recorded message about the internet connection needed to be upgraded.. In Australia some idiot decided to change every one to the new NBN system. That was the gist of the call. Ive been on the new system for over three years, So I knew it was a scam. So I pressed the buttons till I got the operator. That was fine. He told be there was a problem with my service and it's downloads. So I asked if was all the porn. I thought he would just hang up. Nope so told him it was all gay porn. Not an issue. I kept upping the anti thinking he would hang up. Then bang the - confession. He says you know I'm a scammer right. I said I knew that straight away. I said that's why I've kept you on the phone. So blah blah. Then he wants tips on how to scam people better. I told him straight up I'm not going to help him steal money. At this point I really thought he would hang up. Then Bam in a hushed voice, I get an offer I cant refuse. He hates his job and his company. Now he wants to rob from the company and send me the money. Kept him on the hook for another half hour. Now I know exactly where this is going. So I told him I'll do it but I need to set up a new bank account. That will take a few days.
As he was trying to convince me, he kept upping the percentages and adding further deals down the track.
He said he was in Pakistan. I asked the current time. I could hear him looking up the time zone Smile

that was gold.

So I have a few days to milk this.
The money will be from unfortunate people of course not his company.
Is there away these funds could be secured and returned to the owners?
Legally? Is there any dump accounts or a legal institution that would take this on.
This guy was very smooth, great English slight accent.
The phone no he called is a business no. so it will show in google. Lucky the address is wrong. So at this point all he has is a phone no. and a fake name.
Any ideas or I'll just roast him when/if he calls for the bank account.

My other thought was to just give a fake bank account and it will bounce the money back to the victim. The problem with that is they will have several accounts and the victim will be told to try again with a new account.

The reason that you did not find anything like this is because we espouse baiting safely and not involving innocent third parties.

You said that the telephone spammer called a business number. I would say that they would be classified as an innocent third party. You say that the address is improperly listed. Would other databases such as those used by police, fire or other emergency services list the address accurately? Psychotic and angry people have been known to SWAT telephone numbers.

Even if you gave the spammer/scammer a fake name this does not sound like you are baiting safely. Drop all contact. Block the number if you are able.

Thanks PF for that link. An ITP was killed and the intended target is being charged with wire fraud for sending the address of the ITP. The intended target is also being charged with evidence tampering for deleting chats.

Sounds like this would fall under the category of phone based tech support type scams which we don't bait for reasons Connie and PF stated.
