My lad Tim/Abiola sent a totally unsolicited pic to one of my characters for the New Year, so I'm sharing it with all of you! It's cringworthy, and he will be berated for sending topless photos. In the meantime, does anyone have guesses as to why his nails are so long???

NB: Don't know if the game ever reached the US but Subbuteo was a table football (UK)/soccer game where you had to flick miniature plastic players toward the ball and eventually the goal. Subbuteo enthusiasts would grow their nails long so they could flick their players further and with greater accuracy.

The fingernail thing had me stumped, Knowing a little about the guitar, having them that long would make it harder to play I'm sure.

Not expecting much, I did an internet search on the reason, and I actually found some discussion. What seems the most likely is that it's a sign to others that you don't do manual labor. Hinting that he does manual labor for his work might get a rise out of him now that you have covered the homosexual angle with great effect..

Don't mean to necro this thread, but I have an update on our lad's long nails! After several days of explaining exactly why long nails were disgusting and a result of manual labor / scratching in dirt / being homosexual, the lad relented and sent me proof that he's trimmed the nails! I have plenty of photos of his hands, so I can confirm he did indeed comply. I'm cracking up that he felt the need to actually label the hands so I would know which one he was addressing in the photo!

Also, he apparently chews his nails a bit. Ew.
