Was browsing the web when I accidentally clicked on a link. It redirected me to an obviously fake "Windows virus alert" page with a robotic voice warning me about the virus on my computer, as the page repeatedly asked me for my administrator password in broken English. How do I know it's fake?

I'm running Ubuntu.

I was given a phone number to call, and I want to bait this guy. Any advice?

Don't would be my advise, delete it if he thinks he has a live lead, you will be most likely find your self with more emails than you can handle.
Here speak someone who click on an attachment in a email from a scammer and finished up down loading ransom ware.

As the name of the site suggests, we only do advanced fee fraud (a.k.a. 419). Unless you are very savvy about setting up secure lines/phones, etc., your best route is to leave these lads alone.
