Putting this in the surplus scam letters as well. Thought it was pretty hilarious.

Joeseph Clancy is the director of the secret service and not the director of homeland security. You can tell by the grammar this is an American scammer, scamming an American. He could at least do me the common courtesy and get such a basic fact that takes 3 seconds to check (I know because that's how long it took me) correct.

First of all, no need to post into surplus as well, one post containing the format is all it takes for people to find it, really.

With that being said -

I don't think this guy's an american trying to scam an american. Wink

This sentence is very strikingly resembling of our usual laddish, west african english. 5$ say he's from West Africa. You're on? Wink

He mistook some names? Good. Perhaps you can confuse him even further by spreading some good deeducation yourself. Wink

As a native English-speaking (and writing) American, I can tell you the grammar is anything but "American". If, however, you are making a dig at "American grammar", then game on. Wink

ETA: I agree with the panel of experts who have chimed in so far. The grammar, while a cut above most, looks to be bog standard West African laddish script.

I doubt this is an American. It almost sounds like someone that learned English in Australia or New Zealand.

I don't know many Americans that open a letter with "Good Day"
Also, the "Kindly get back to us for further directives" isn't American either.

Not many Australians open letters with "Good day", let me tell you.

We normally start with "G'day there cobber, howyergoingmateorright?"

I hope that clears things up.

Throw away all preconceptions, but certainly use this as an opportunity to let him know Clancy is going through Senate Confirmation for Homeland Security and you appreciate him taking time out of his busy schedule.
