I have only been baiting for a short time so don't know if this is a common occurrence or not but I got an email with the usual spiel however it also had 50 ish other people as cc. I of course sent a mail to them all warning them on not getting taken in but it seems odd that anyone would not have the sense to use some form of multi mailer.

It's reasonably common. Scammers often slip up and use cc rather than bcc.

It is also not recommend to reply to the message alerting the other recipients that it is a scam - the vast majority will just have deleted the mail because they know it is a scam.

I said don't bother alerting the other recipients that it is a scam as the majority will have realised it's a scam and deleted the original mail - all you have done is created yet more spam in some ITP's inbox

The vast majority of recipients will recognize it as a scam right away -- assuming it doesn't go straight to their spam folder first. A lot of people see a well-intentioned warning as a nuisance. Don't be surprised if you get some responses along the lines of "do you think I'm an idiot?" or "stop spamming me!" -- it happens.

Even if it seems there are just other baiters receiving our warnings, I think it's a good idea to warn anyway. Lately I've heard so many sad stories about victims losing a lot of money.

Yep, my thoughts are if you can prevent one person from being scammed that is worth annoying some people warning them about it.

Absolutely. At times I don't feel like posting on a forum where people tell about a great offer they just got or a nice person they just met online etc. But I still try to warn and give some useful links. It doesn't take so much time after all.

That actually sounds like me. I received a warning about a scam a while ago (on my catcher account) and since I use an auto-reply, the sender would have received that piece of text Smile

Edit: I also realise that it's probably very common to do so
