Hi all, newbie here. kept a scammer on the hook the other day for the first time and enjoyed it. He said he was a US General in Afghanistan and I kept him dangling for a few days before I had had enough of him. He was not too happy!!! As his language and English deteriorated towards the end.
I am here to pick up tips

I hope you weren't using your personal email address and real name with that scammer. We are fanatic about safe baiting -- fake persona, email that doesn't trace back to you.

Meanwhile, grab a few lads from the Surplus Forum and have fun!

Hi robinhood405666 and again welcome to Eater.

By saying that you had enough of him I hope you did not "burn" the lad or in anyway educate the lad that they were being baited. If you did, it happens sometimes and we move on from there.

We try our best to not educate the scammers in their craft. We don't point out defects in their product and would never complain about a passport unless its a real one then we howl and tell them that its complete rubbish.

You will notice a change in their writing style as they move from scripted text that they use to possibly the closer that will attempt to collect the money.

Please pull up a chair, roll up your sleeves and help make the world a better place.

No I was using a new email just for this purpose and I didn't 'burn' him he just got very frustrated and started swearing at me!!

That reply can usually be translated as "Please open another new account and contact me to start all over!"

A good start!

Now pick up another and see if you can keep him going for a week longer than your first one.

Then the next one... a week longer yet again.

Every minute you waste his time, it's time he's not spending on real victims.

Yes Never use your id.. and NEVER make something they can use on a victim in the future..

The lad doesn't really need it, just tell him you don't have a scanner and "will get it to him when you can". He'll just carry on with the scam and it'll never come up again.

I like to make the mugu do the work. I simply ignore the request and move the bait right along. I dangle cash by telling them I am off to Paris/London/Milan today to buy some Spring/Summer/Fall/Winter fashion item that I need for a party next week. Don't let it affect your baiting. Tell the lad you are going to use your Sat phone internationally. The lads love money being dangled.

When I do feel that the lad needs to have a file sent I have used this.

I select a generated file size of at least 5 megabytes and call it <COPY OF SCAN.JPG>. If that does not do the trick I send a another file of just under 10 megabytes called <NEW SCANNER.TIF>. The beauty is that I can forward these files while I am waiting in a line from my phone when the lad is hounding me for either an ID or a copy of the transfer. I may have sent these two files to a hundred different lads. Remember to make the mugu do the work.

When the lad tells me that he cannot see a preview of the file I tell him that he needs Windows 10.
