PF is old school and doesn't use MS Paint - he uses a limited edition colour Etcha Sketch.

First they came for my incandescents, and I said nothing.

Confession time. I went all CFL a bit ago, they last forever. The ones outside in the cold require some sort of cold weather ballast and are damn expensive, I still have incandescents in those sockets. I have a stockpile of incandescents and once they are banned here I plan to start a black market.

I have some CFL's in my outdoor fixtures and they work. They just start dark & yellow and brighten as they warm up.

@Al I've tried them outside and they hate Minnesota. They do the same, take a while to warm up but then die completely. They have special "cold weather" bulbs, but they are cost prohibitive. (That means fucking expensive)

Then I break them open and sniff the mercury.

LEDs should start ok in cold conditions and are instantly up to full output. Downside is, the colour rendition is routinely rotten and the light output is never up to standard. Upside; they use a lot less power then even CFLs.
