I'm gonna go straight to the point here, this is probably one of the most morbid trophies that has been posted here in this forum. At least that is my opinion.

This is the background story for those of you that cannot remember it. We got Rushforth to Chad and then to Abeche. There he was doing some loitering for some two weeks till we finally convinced him to move on to Adre even further eastward. That is where things got truly interesting. I sent him to a police station thinking the driver that would by this time realize that he was going to get stiffed, would have his ass arrested. That didn't happen.

Instead Rushforth decided to take a ride back to Abeche with an angry driver and that turned out to be a bad idea for him. The drive tried to shoot him (allegedly) and drove him over with a car breaking his leg badly. As Dharma spoke with the treating doctor in Arabic we had that part pretty much confirmed. And now it is 100% confirmed. The lad DID break his leg in a nasty way, and we caused this.

After telling me when i called him last autumn "don't ever call this number again" he suddenly mailed me some months ago. My goal ever since has been to confirm his story as there should be some evidence. I figured a new x-ray and a photo of his scars now would be what a could get, but this is much better. This is photos from when he had his cast removed in Chad from what it looks like. And these photos came with this letter.

Now if you look at the thread that i i posted the link to you can see a youtube link where Rushforth uses the very same name that can be seen on the x-ray. And also it is clearly the same man that has his cast removed. So i have every reason to believe that these are legit.

Now for a question, is there a MD among you that can interpret the photos and the x-ray to say what the happened to his leg?

Ooh! Lad pain, literally!

I am no medical doctor, but I can see that that is a lower leg, partially mishealed, and a few centimeters shorter than it ought to be.

The x-rays look like they were taken when he arrived at the hospital. I cannot see any healing process.

Both the shinbone and the splint bone show multiple fractures and the broken ends have been dislocated and pushed upwards.

Looks extremely painful and also dangerous as bone marrow can enter the blood vessels and clog them.

My son is orthopedic surgeon and could give you a solid medical statement (for free) if you can wait for a few days.

Ya, that definitely looks like both lower leg bones are broken. I'm surprised he didn't have more injuries than that after being hit by a car.

Yes, please. According to the lad it was an ordeal, and i am quite certain that he is still having problems with the leg. The medical standard in Adre isn't what it should be. And i think that even the MSF would think twice before sending someone there.

I will try to get the lad to send more recent photos of his leg too, there are bound to be some scars still.

Not an MD, but it's a tibia/fibula with multiple fractures and looks like a turning-twisting type trauma. My guess is if this is the lad, these are the first set of films- no reduction of the fractures. I spent more than a couple years taking x-rays and this had to hurt like hell!

I am also not a doctor but I can clearly see that the leg in those X-rays is... what's the medical term... fucked up?

Thank you Nigel, and everyone else.
He is home and i have spoken and written with him for some time now. He want to know why the church treated him like we did. So i said that it was unlucky circumstances and that he is entitled for some serious compensation if he can prove what he did. So he stated raving about loss of income, 1,200$/month, which is ludicrous, but sadly he couldn't get the contract of employment to prove it. So i asked what he could get from the medical department and i got these. I was fully expecting some fakes taken from the web but this worked out fine. He is a nice lad.

To answer your question, he is still not home but stuck in some rural shithole as his landlord want some rent from him, IP says Owerri.

No MD, but I have a RL story which might explain the offset bones. My nephew was in an auto accident and suffered compound fractures to both femurs. They offset both legs to what you kind of see in the xray. He was lucky that both were broken so they could offset both the same length. My brother said that the bones will heal sideways and eventually look almost normal under xray. But my nephew will be three inches shorter than he should have been.

Interesting. I can see how the double lap would make for a larger "weld" as it healed but the rather odd geometry will give him issues and if he walks home in the dark he will go in circles.
I had assumed it was simply a cockup. Looking at the x-rays again you can see it is healing at the ends and a nice fillet is forming which should spread in and make a good joint in time. But it will still never be right. Heh.
