Looks like our favourite lad candy store is having problems. 402 this morning and now 502 bad gateway. How long before it goes 404?

I have seen the server error and the bad gateway. many times. I got there just now after a minute or so. I always thought it was my giggle box giving me a hard time.

^Phil, I almost went into DTs with that thought! I haven't had much luck getting the Vlads from there but I can still pick up the occasional lad when I'm not feeling busy enough.

I have no idea why the Vlads have given such luck lately. I fell more comfortable with those but the lads I can get out here in public with no worry.

That is weird, any of the contacts I get from possible Vlads at 4(o)PPL go un-answered.

Getting a lot of replies from people from Ghana or supposed Americans that are in SA or other places on the dark continent.

Vlads seem to be few and far between there. When I am logged in there I click on every profile that looks Russian and leave that tag for a few minutes. I never send the first mail to them.

Maybe I need to narrow my profile specs!

So far I haven't sent an initial message there. I just react to the ones sent to me. Mostly something like:

Hello (Mycharacter) from USA here. It must be warm there in Ghana.
(my Character)

It's summer in the southern hemisphere and winter up here. The ones I've been contacted by that are supposedly from USA I say it must be cold to and see what they return.

I just tell them that their profile and picture is very interesting. i would love to get to know them more. If they are interested my email is balhblahblah. It helps to sort the BS!

But your not contacting them first are you? Your reply kinda sounds like you might be.
The ethics of baiting is for them to make first contact.

Granted 4(O)PPL seems to be scammer central station. LOL. I gotta wonder if it isn't a site put up on the web for scammers to soak up vics. Gotta wonder just who the h**l is running the joint. The only bad thing about shutting down the whole website would be that the scammers would just switch to their other sites.

I could be wrong and I am sure a mod or someone more senior than myself can clear this up but I would think a Generic intro as NV has described is akin to the guestbook seeding that we all do. As long as he weeds out the itp's from the scammers (as I am sure he is capable of) then I dont beleive he is breaking an rule> Once again nI am not an authority on this type of baiting.

I can't see anything in the rulebook that says that the scammer has to contact you first. As deadking says, make sure that it is a lad before baiting them.

I assume that most of the lad profiles and pictures are so obvious that its like shooting fish in a barrel.

I don't make first contact unless it is very obvious. I just click on their profile and watch how they react to it.

As the above posts have said, if the profile is clearly fake (and there are plenty of those, for example those using stolen model/pornstar photos) it is perfectly acceptable to make the first contact.

However, if there is any chance the profile may be real, or the person simply a beggar, you should not contact them first.

If you are new to romance baiting, it is always best to set up a profile and let them approach you until you become more experienced and are able to clearly identify the fakes. Typically, if your profile is appropriate, you will have more than enough approaching you without needing to find them yourself.

And as NV said, often if you just click to view their profile, they will follow up by approaching you.

I have been there in the last 15-20 minutes. I signed in with my male character and clicked on 3 clear fakes. They were on me like stink on poo-poo! One is setting me up a yahoo addy, the other two are uncertain why I won't add them. Another is snooping now.

I haven't checked out the profile, but keep in mind that 4ppl has its share of perverts as well as scammers. Based on that naked comment I suspect you might be looking at a perv. Keep in mind that we don't bait perverts (unless they are also known scammers of course).

Thanks for the nice conversation. I don't remember where I got the notion that they were supposed to make first contact. Not a problem at 4(o)PPL though as all I've have to do is log in then open another tab and do whatever for about 10 minutes. By the time I get back there's already several waiting messages.

I have 2 new lads I picked up earlier. Both are using the same name. Guess I'll just name the thread i start and post both as we go there.

I looked at the profile that SO posted and the picture was from the shoulders up. He did not have a shirt on. The rest is just a guess.

I've had the todger pix from my profile and I need to fix that. Phil has encouraged me to find another and i will change some things about this one to make it easier.

I have one that is going well. Our 1 month anniversary would be on the 17th. I see in my inbox that the revised forms are back. I'll look them over when I get home tonight. I have some others that are patchy but we'll see if I can't get them tickled into motion.
