Friend of an acquaintance from another forum apparently boarded a plane for Ghana this morning with $10,000 worth of false hopes. Wasn't able to get contact info in time to forward on to warners, but it seems like the guy was fairly well informed by friends and family and was intent on going to collect his gold. Investigating the possibility of getting the contact e-mail and advised the contact to check with the embassy in Ghana.
Very sad. Keeping my eyes on the headlines. |

I would pass on whatever info you do have to a mod at scamwarners. They might know someone who can get the attention of the right people at the embassy. Long shot, but probably worth a try. |

The guy I'm talking to is looking into it, unfortunately it came to my attention about 3 hours before he was scheduled to fly. I don't know what kind of access the girlfriend might have to his e-mail, but I have asked. |

Oh, man, good luck. I know we joke about our bait characters being detained at airports, but it would be wonderful if your acquaintance's friend ran into that on his way to Ghana.

Apparently they have his vital documents (obviously) and are beginning the process of threatening him into further money.
