While most lawyers are right there next to pond scum, seeing a scam victim charged is just sad. Goes to show that victims come from all walks of life and all education backgrounds. |

I know that being a lawyer doesn't make you scam-proof. But this was a NOK scam, and most of them ask the victim to falsely claim to be the next of kin. |

Some here like to get the attitude, these guys are dumb. A few are but many of them are pretty clever, and the people they con are people with at least normal intelligence
They have targeted doctors, an example is MD Ali-Reza Ghasemi, MD, he lost 400,000 (New scams focusing on familiar target - doctors; Cook, Bob, American Medical News 03-28-2005).
Former Congressman and attorney Edward Mezvinsky, got caught up in a 419 scam, and he was so convinced the deal was real he started stealing from his clients. He was caught and got sent to prison. (Chelsea Clinton's boyfriend's dad serving time in prison The Hindustan Times December 10, 2006).
Never under estimate what a mugu is capable of, and that dopey mugu may just be acting. They are Con artist, aren’t they. |

I certainly don't believe that victims are stupid, but I do wonder about the honesty of victims caught up in a NOK scam. Even to a non-lawyer, falsely claiming an inheritance is wrong. Even if presented as a victimless crime. |
