Hi just a few questions regarding MoneyGram payments.
Is it possible for the scammers to be able to check that these payments are genuine online or do they have to physically go down to the office to collect there money.
And do they have to collect from a certain office or can they pick up money from any MoneyGram office.
Thanks

As far as I know, they have to go to a MoneyGram office to check MG payments. They can check WU online if they have the MTCN, therefore I prefer MG as it means they have to take repeated trips to the office.

If you read a thread on west africa in Eater University, it suggests that these trips can take up to half a day in some cases.

They are able to call Moneygram to check but it's a premium rate US number so lads very rarely will check a Moneygram before queueing up.

No they can't. That's why a lot of lads insist on Western Union.

I tell them Moneygram is very close to my office and I can send it to them today, but if they want me to use Western Union it will have to wait 2 days.

Trust me, they will pick moneygram.

Then when they go to moneygram and there are no funds there, I tell them I panicked and withdrew the funds. But now I trust them so I will send the funds tomorrow ect ect ect.........

How to Find Out If a Moneygram Has Been Picked Up

ehow.com wrote:
Use the reference number to inquire about the status of your transfer. MoneyGram can only provide this information by phone. Call MoneyGram at 1-800-666-3947 and provide the agent with the reference number, which will be used to track your order.

If you fill out form on money gram site they will give you a number and email you the that money picked up.
This is copy of email from money gram.

Dear Customer,

As per our records all of the transaction in question were received in GYUMRI, Armenia. Please note that a MoneyGram transaction can only be received in the country it was sent and only by the receiver who can provide a proper valid photographic identification and transaction details.

Go check the TOOLS (Help, Hints and Tips forum)

There are all kinds of ways to run these crooks through the ringer before they even leave their "office" to go collect at MG.

Thanks for that I have used the TOOLS (Help, Hints and Tips forum) and downloaded the Western Union and MoneyGram Security Questions form.
The first few emails I replied too have requested advance fee as per usual.
So I attach the forms to the email and send that on to them with the promise of money when I get the forms filled in correctly but none of the scammers have taken the bait yet.
