Bored out of my mind in London I check my spam folder, and find a nice one from ladette

Sometimes lads drop communication for no apparent reason; maybe they have too many magas on their hands. Perhaps, seeing no state name in the USA address, he googled it and found Arkham in Batman.

You shouldn't send lads any real pictures of people or anything made from a real ID card. They can splice them and make fakes to fool people. The passport he sent you is obviously fake, but some people are taken in.

Maybe they recognised your picture, it's all I can think of. I'm pretty certain people have baited as prisoners before, with lad happy to try bilk them

Therefore dropped.

However, if you were incarcerated but still running your drug/porn/arms empire from your cell.

As there are people who have never even heard of Christian Bale (like me), let alone know what he looks like, scammers could use the photo to fool such people. Would any of you recognize Sam S. Wagstaff or Ron Rivest?

Scammers can find millions of pictures on the internet, and nicer ones than that. For our romance baits, we all use photos, and our fake Facebook profiles come with pictures, too.
The problems arise when we send fake passport or driving license scans ready to use.
I don't think a lad will use the photo of a convict to convince his victim that he is trustworthy. Wink

If you can convince him your really inside, then he could become your accomplice on the outside.

Maybe the ladette is flustered, she loves a man in uniform, even if it is a prison uniform.

They could very easily come back. I have had the come back after months and maybe up to a year, sometimes under a different format.

Your original character got put in solitary or sent to a different prison, maybe outsourced to Diego Garcia or somewhere.
Bait her from a new address, and his lawyer / gang partner / brother / lieutenant / enforcer / illegitimate child will step in. Or maybe a prison guard who found a printout of the e-mail message on the cell floor.

Scammers are flighty and will always follow the path of least effort - if you want to pull a scammer's chain, bait him as 3 different characters, you will find the richest, dumbest characters get most love. And it can be a good plan to keep a few lads bubbling gently, one email per day, nice and straight baiting style until you need a fresh one for special attention, then you have one already off script and has rapport with your character.

My experience agrees with manbiteslion. Recently a lad demanded my occupation and work address. I told him I was unemployed. He came back with a bunch of insults and dumped me!

I find that an occupation of "retired" is fine with the lads though. Guess they figure old men and women are still good targets.

and thankfully google voice gives free voicemails in the US along with redirects, so im good if they need to leave a voicemail

Having worked in a prison ministry in the US, prisoners do have money accounts from which they can draw to purchase items in the prison store/commissary.

In many prisons, the prisoners "work" at jobs for which they earn some money which goes into their accounts and their relatives can add funds to the accounts.

One prisoner I knew have about $500 USD in his account. He had no prison job, but was scamming women (via snail mail - now they use the internet as they have access to it).
