Google pushing all 'Profiles' pages public July 31 in Google+ transition

If a Google Profiles user doesn't turn his or her page public by the end of the month, Google will delete the page.

^^That's one more reason why I will NOT be joining yet another failed Google knockoff of Facebook, because I am quite certain that once privacy is gone, people won't want to stay especially if they are prone to posting personal information about themselves on these profiles and it gives lads more targets as well. Mad

I'm on Google+ and it looks nice. It gives you a lot more control of who sees what, especially compared to Facebook. Any privacy scares related to Google+ are just baloney. If social networking is not your thing that's fine and dandy, but if used intelligently you're not putting anything out into the internet that you don't want people to know.

It's the internet, there is no privacy. If you want privacy, don't use your real name or any other information that can identify you. That said, I think G+ is pretty neat. There's a lot more control, it's intuitive, and the hangouts feature is super-easy and looks like fun to use. Granted, it's been less than 24 hours since my invite, but it's definitely the best offering Google has come up with, and it has the potential to rival Facebook if enough folks get on board.

^^If Facebook can then chances when Google+ allows everyone to join then you will be seeing a large amount of lads trying to join that site and take it's members for a ride. I was considering making a "baiter" account to attract lads from this site but we'll see.

Google + is great so far, it's not really social networking, it's more an extension of gmail. The circles are fantastic when it comes to controlling who sees what, it's up to you to control it.

Scammers will always find a way in to something, but I don't see this as an inherent issue. I mean, they use mail to get a foot in to people's lives. It's not like Facebook in particular fails some kind of technical issue that allows them to get in to your account. The MO for a facebook scammer is exactly the same as a mail scammer.
