This is not new, Exif data has got a lot of people in trouble. Geotagging is AFAIK disabled by default on Blackberries ... I checked on mine ...

ALWAYS check exif data on stuff you send out, and if in doubt convert to a different format (ie .JPG to .PNG) to clear the Exif information.

Exif reader extensions are available for Firefox and other browsers so you can pin all this down before you distribute images.

I saw a lovely instance of geotagging at work on another (less reputable) site. Somebody posted some crap amateur pr0n on an imageboard being an attention whore. After a few opinions and calls for diets, somebody posted a screencap from Google Streetview with "Hello OP. You live here" ... those special moments are only so beautiful because it's someone else on the spike and not me.
