I've been here for some time, and grown to learn so much and had so much help from people which has been fantastic.

Recently ive had some devastating news during a routine scan, so i have a plan, and a really strange request.

First if your not already a premium member become one!. Any mod will tell you how. All i am asking is for you to support this site!

Secondly my legacy plan, to reach the unreachable, everyone must know someone who lives near them who might be vulnerable. Literally approach them and educate them, its a simple task and with over 20,000 members that will take a fair chunk of victims away from the evil scum.

Most people have printers, if everyone printed 10 leaflets thats 200,000 leaflets *based on every single member actually doing it.

You have all been baiters so you know exactly the type of neighbours to drop a leaflet through there letter box.

The content is very simple, and im sure you guys can with a bit of discussion make this a viable legacy.

It only needs to read things like:
Have you won a lottery you never entered? Its probably a scam
Think before you send money to people you dont know.

Stuff like that.

Total cost about 50p for the home printing and about 30 mins to pop them into neighbours postboxes.

Sorry to hear your bad news D11, but your idea is good.

Also added to that is what I do, and write an article for your local community/town/area newspaper. I've never been turned down by any local paper, they always want articles to print.

Sorry to hear you have had bad news.

Anything that goes into a US mailbox (letter box), must have US Postage on it. It is called an illegal solicitation if there is no postage on it.

We can tape them to the mailbox or put them on their door knob at their front door. Some people have a newspaper box attached to their mailbox post and you can put the flyers in there. Or put them in plastic bags and hang them on the door.

Although we purchase our mailboxes, once it is set for US mail, it somehow becomes "federal property." This is governed by Section 1725 of Title 18 of the U.S. Code.

ETA: I get free business cards from a company and have some information printed out about scam email and freely hand them out to folks when we talk about emails, etc. It gives my non-RL email address to which they can forward the scams they get.

I'm terribly sorry to hear you got bad news.

I had a stroke over a year ago and was terrified but here I am nearly completely recovered, so try and think positively.

D11, I am sorry you're dealing with bad news. Please PM me anytime you wish -- I am an insomniac and almost always awake for a chat.

Your request is not strange, but inspiring. I will do everything I can to fulfill it, every day. The others here have given me a few new ideas -- e.g., writing to my local paper, having cards made up. (Morgain is right, we have to be careful in the US about putting things in mailboxes, but there are other ways of getting the message out.)

D11 - hard to know what to say .. I'm very sorry you find yourself in this situation. My thoughts are with you.

Your idea is excellent. Happily in the UK you can put whatever you like through people's letterboxes without fear (within reason) so it wouldn't be a problem. Flyers and the like may have a lower strike rate but could also be effective.

I'll work on some layouts in a bit and hand them around for approval, copying and criticism.

Im hoping this should make a real difference I wasnt aware of us regulations, because im from the UK, but the workaround sounds good.

With the leaflets remember baiter security, dont put anything about you being a baiter etc. If you do talk to people again use security and dont tell them your a baiter Smile

It is very unsettling to read the bad news about your scan, D11.

Someone very close to me got the same news five years ago but is still with us, how much longer we don't know.

Last year I did contribute an article to the local suburban weekly and may do it again this year.

Im actually quite optomistic, i dont think they can work out how long, for me its treatment / scans etc, so whilst im still here might as well make it even tougher for lads Very Happy

I've done it with rapid mono printing or photocopying in mind, as well as being very simple, legible and non-threatening.

Feel free to use or copy as you wish (or suggest amendments). Three of these will fit on an A4 sheet.
