My first experience with a 419 Scam.....

I started getting scam letters at work in 2003. I just kept deleting them until I got a little fed up and decided to try something.

I received a letter from some guy explaining that I won something like $250,000 in a lottery and all I needed to do was provide an address so he could mail the check. I gave some ridiculous address like 1234 Moron Road, Notown, West Dakota. The crook then came back and said I needed to wire $187.00 to insure the letter. Okay, I gave him some bogus MTCN number. He came back 3 times before he finally realized I wasn't falling for his scam. That's when I learned a new word, Mugu....

I thought I was pretty creative until I found this site. I'm not even an amateur compared to what I've seen other people do.

Well, I hope to have a little fun and maybe even stop somebody from getting ripped off...

Glad you found us! You will love scambaiting. You can apply for a mentor to help you with your first steps; after your second post, our mentor system will accept you. Depending on the open slots, it may take some time until you hear back.

There's no reason at all to be ashamed of your first bait. Making mistakes is the best way for baiters to learn new things. Read the stickies, Eater U, bait safe, and all that other stuff the other baiters are saying. Remember to have fun with it though! Baiting gives you a chance to pretend to be anyone you want to be, so run with it, have fun, and I think I speak for all of us here when I say I want to see more of your baiting adventures in the near future!
