So how am I supposed to look out for this individual in my scam-baitings?

If you come across him, just stop the bait and leave him alone.

He doesn't scam people anyway; he steals victims from other scammers, so you won't get a letter from him. Basically he hacks other scammers' email accounts, then poses as them to get money from their victims. If the scammer tries for revenge or tries to get his money back, that's when things get nasty. But if he thinks you're fucking with him...well, let's just say it's been nice knowing you.

MODS generally intervene if a post mentioning you know who gets out of hand, but like all things, we are all grown ups and your life is your own.

BE VERY CAREFUL.

In my VERY limited experience, UB only takes action if you interfere with one of his takeovers or actually start disrespecting him openly, and thus undermine him with the lads.

I've not heard of anyone on this board being affected yet, but there are rumours of "losses" on other boards.

The latest IT rumour places UB directly as a source of one of the new powerful XP trojan viruses MyDoom.UXB, which is used to harvest lads address books and place webbug spyware on their PCs. This leads to scam harvesting or in more extreme cases, I have heard that he indulges in "lad harvesting" a la the Grim Reaper. The more mention of UB, the more likely you are to get infected......

That barrister is no relation to UB (as far as we know), but the article is real enough if you can get to it via the link provided. That said, I often have trouble locating BBC articles after initial publication on the site. Must have something to do with the way they archive them.

How would you know if you were being hacked by the way. I had a load of stuff go wrong with my computer the other day and kept getting loads of java error messages and stuff. Restarted comp and reset cable modem and all was ok.

Concerned because I am sure I once baited a lawyer by the name of b3.l10 (not u3.m.a.n but same surname) and gave him a big slap.

The person who we know as U B is not concerned with baiters...

All he is after is lads and the money they are about to take from victims, you see, this person steals victims from lads.

Baiters have nothing to fear from this guy at all.

Search the forums, and please stop bringing up subjects about this, it has been debated to death now.

I'd know if I were getting hacked because I have been mucking about with these boxes and their interconnectedness since the late 1970's.
Most errors on PC's are created by lazy coders, not hackers. That being said, if you want to get hacked, reinstall Windows while connected to the internet and in less than three minutes you'll be sorry.

As to a certain name, it's a very common surname in particular part of the world. Don't be freaked, be careful.

One lad once referred to as a "redskin" (the full phrase was actually something like "asshole redskin muther fucker"). This could imply that he is of East Indian or Asian origin, as there are many East Indians in certain parts of Africa.

click for a prinable version and... the same thing, but printable.
if you go to bbc news site and advanced search amsterdam and the date at the top of the page, you are directed to the same article 'how not to...'.
the last modified times of the 'bizzarre human mutilation' and 'how not to..' articles match exactly.
the 'see also' links are exactly the same for both articles.

does it still seem genuine?

I think I've seen this before.

This (i think) is a smaller website, that hosts BBC news for its readers, in return you get crappy links and things like this, basically it takes the cover story on a BBC article, and when a reader tries to use it, it re-directs in an effort to draw customers.

Its the real story, but good luck finding it on BBC, I've tried to find the article on the 419ers shot in the head in downtown Lagos, but no luck. The only place I could find it was on one of those pages.

Thats as much as I know, but I'm sure someone has more detail.
