Morning All,
I have ahd a couple of messages from Rose Snowfield of the Children's Villa.
[email protected]
She claims to be working with orphans suffering from aids.
Can anyone confirm if this is a scam, or have you had any interaction with her?
cheers

It's definitely a scam.
It's possible that the person she's claiming to be actually exists, the organization she claims to work for could exist as well. But if that organization exists, it wouldn't mail from @aol addresses.
This is definitely a scammer pretending to represent some good cause.

If you're not sure if you're dealing with a scammer, Google is always helpful. Search for the address or even better, for the organisation. If there's no page for it or no other record about it, it's very likely made up.
Also, to my knowledge, actual charity organisations don't send out unsolicited mails. |

I agree with both Master of Puppets and theblob.
* If they were real they would have a genuine domain and email server, rather than an aol address.
* They would not have sent unsolicited mail to a wealth of addresses.
* If you can paste the email here, with headers, you'll probably be able to notice that the location they claim to be from, is a lie, and the email came from somewhere completely different (not wanting to be claiming stereotypes, but probably West Africa...). |
