Very well done Mr. Kubica.
Top three Reanult engined.

On another note. Something has to be done about this lack of passing.
These races can not continue to be trains with the only passing at the start and during pit stops.

And Roy, I have walked Monaco too. They would not let me into the casino but I saw the casino hairpin, the tunnel and the swimming pool.

Monaco has always been pretty impossible to overtake without cooperation, it's like the Isle of Man TT course - If you came up with it now as a proposition for a race circuit, people would laugh at you! It must be like trying to fly a jet fighter in a large barn.

The best passing move of the race has earned Schumacher a 20 second penalty. Apparently when the safety car goes in and green flags and lights appear, that means they are still under caution, if it's the last lap, even though the course had been cleared. Mercedes are appealing it, but I don't suppose the FIA are going to overturn anything that gives more points to a Ferrari. Twisted Evil

Red Bull are looking pretty unstoppable as long as the cars are reliable.

^ Schumi's overtaking was a stupid action, AFAIK overtaking after a safety car situation is allowed only after passing the start/finish line at all times, not only in the final lap.

Article 40.13 states: "If the race ends while while the Safety Car is deployed it will enter the pitlane at the end of the last lap and the cars will take the chequered flag as normal without overtaking".

If I have this correct "at the end of the last lap" would be the end of the race.

Brawn are contending that after it entered pitlane there were green lights and green flags.

Since Ferrari are involved I have a pretty good idea of the outcome.

Roy, when I referred to the trains of no passing I know that Monaco is tough. Spain and Hungary are not much better. If not for the rain a couple of earlier paces could have been very boring.

Webber lost an engine at the end of FP2, but they're not bothered, its an old one.

I read that the Ferrari chassis Alonso stuck in the barrier at Monte Carlo in practice is a write off, it can't be fixed. Coming soon, to a motor show near you.... Wink

Great race today. Nice to see Lewis and Jenson being able to push the RBR's to (and over) their limits. Webber isn't a happy puppy after his teammate ran him (and himself) of the track whilst occupying first and second position.

Didn't you guys love turn 8 on the Istanbul track, full throttle 6th gear @ 260 KM/h. Amazing to see the down-force on these cars, especially the RBR's.

At the end of the race both Lewis and Jenson were told to slow down to save fuel, I still don't understand why Jenson (at that stage) still made an attempt to overtake Lewis, with the risk of both ending up in the gravel. Still: I enjoyed myself, and I think many petrolheads did.

I only saw the race last night, I was camping in a field when it was on.

Blimey, what a race! I hugely enoyed the Red Bull crash fest, I dont think Webber saw it the same way, he was lucky to get 3rd after that.

I suspect the McLarens werent as low on fuel as they'd have you beleive, but it was a way of stopping them from racing each other that worked. The difference from the Red Bulls was that they gave each other a little room when they overtook each other, that was what was p*ssing off Christian Horner the most when the BBC interviewed him after the race. From that point of view, Webber got some of the blame, he could have moved over a bit, and Vettel would be expected to do the same for him.

Turn 8 was magnificent, the RB's went through flat, Lewis and Jenson were knocking it back a gear. Other than that, they seemed to have a better car. Good to see the Schumeister getting 4th and beating his team mate, I think he's getting the upper hand there now.

Both drivers are to blame. Webber should have given Vettel the room. That was a dumb move on Webber's part.
The Red Bulls were not geared high enough and were hitting the limiters on the straight.
I think that the Mclaren's would have stayed with them. Not sure that they could have passed them.

Turn eight is a monster.

I don't agree on the Vettel/ Webber incident. If you want to race your teammate, great, I love that! But don't expect him to lift way before the turn to give him some clean side of the track to brake. Vettel, knowing he was on the dirt, should have realised he'd have to break earlier than Webber, instead of steering to the outside. The curve itself would have been the place to decide who was ahead, and who would have had to give the other the room. Seems I'm not the only one thinking like this.

Got my tickets for Silverstone today by recorded delivery, its exciting reading through all the schedules and maps etc. They have 3 full days of practice and support races, the Red Arrows on Friday, skydivers Saturday, dancing helicopters on Sunday, along with the World Cup final on big screens after the race. I may go Thursday to Monday, I have a camping ticket too. My grandstand on Sunday is at Beckett's, a good fast wiggle, with hopefully a view of the new infield section too. The grandstand is uncovered, so I get wet if it rains, but Lewis and Jenson are both excellent in the wet, so I wont be too downhearted. For that money, however I should get my own gridgirl to hold an umbrella over me.

After seeing bacon rolls on sale for £5 last time I went, I will be taking stocks of food and beer. Its not the vendors to blame, no doubt Bernie charges everyone top dollar, not just me.

My wife can never know how much my 3 day ticket cost. Wink

You could buy a Money Laundry Certificate from a top Barrister for that kind of money, or pay long term demurrage on a trunkbox. Shocked

I'll have to settle for a front row view on the entire track on my 46" flatscreen. Chilled beer, affordable snacks, comfortably on the couch, no rain, no traffic jams trying to get home. For free! Cool

Lewis on pole tomorrow. Jeez, that guy knows how to drive an F1 car, I'm convinced he's the best one on the grid at the moment. Schumi was out-qualified by Rosberg again, not even making the top-10. I hope the Canadian GP will be as spectacular as the Turkish one.

Different tyre strategies, as the tyres fell apart, led to a real nailbiter, and eventually another McLaren 1-2. No silly buggers between team mates this time, but Michael didnt cover himself in glory. He was in a foul mood having to drive over 30 laps on shredded soft tyres, and punting off anyone who tried to overtake.

Mclaren seems to have caught Red Bull, though Red Bull did shoot themselves in the foot in Turkey.

Ferrari are staying in third. Massa's Canada race left something to be desired.

Two teams that impressed me are Force India and Renault. Though mid field runners, I like what I see.

I have a busy sporting weekend, I have to squeeze in painting the bedroom along with Moto GP from Assen tommorow, then the European F1GP and some football match on Sunday.

Next week my mate and I are off to the Goodwood Festival of Speed, where they are celebrating 60 years of F1 with all sorts of exotica and famous drivers. I warn you, there will be photos.. Wink

I just watched the end of Free Practice 1 from Valencia. A dull and dusty circuit around a dockside, they go over a swing bridge which has to be welded shut, you really wouldn't want it to move! Shocked

Rosberg was quickest, with teammate Michael over 1 second behind. Second and 3rd were the McLarens of Lewis and Jenson, the Red Bulls were down in 6th and 7th. More later.

^ During the Canadian GP race there were 60 overtaking actions, last years Valencian GP just 1 ! If I were you I'd watch the start, and get back to painting Laughing

Qualifying today: 1: Vettel, 2: Webber, 3: Hamilton.

After the session, on their way to weighing, I noticed Webber walked straight past his teammate, without congratulating or even looking at him.

Mark Webber had the most amazing accident, caused by the huge difference in speed between his car and Hekki's Lotus. It's still down to him not to run into the back of people.

Mark has tried flying without an aircraft before, he took off and flipped at Le Mans one year. "My car felt like it was airborne for a long time," said the Australian. "I had time to worry about whether there were any bridges at that point on the track, which, luckily there weren't."

Best bit for me was Alonso totally throwing his toys out of the pram, when he found out Lewis had kept second despite a drive through for passing the safety car, while Nando didn't and went down to 8th. No excuse for being passed by Kobashi on the last lap though. Here is Nando looking happy:

A whole bunch of drivers got a 5 second penalty for speeding behind the safety car, but as they were all together at the end, it didnt affect the result much.

Holy moly! It was nice to wake up slowly today, Friday and Saturday I was cooked out of the tent (with a monster hangover) at an early hour, Sunday the helicopters started at 7, it was like Apocalypse Now!

Got back last night just in time for the footy, there was gridlock at the campsite until I joined an escape convoy, looking for the back gate.

Thanks to the St John's Ambulance boys for remembering to bring sun cream, which is more than I did. I only took 399 photos, I'll spare you about 390 of them. Smile

There have been big changes at Silverstone, this will be the pits next year, and Abbey will become turn 1.

The new complex was fantastic, heres the warm up lap, taken from my seat in the grandstand at Becketts, looking over at the new bit:

I watched Qualifying from opposite the pits, here's McLaren's little motorhome...

The Totty race had a very close finish....

After seeing them 2 weeks running, I have way too many pix of the Red Arrows, but they do take a good picture.

This panning lark is harder than it looks, a lot of the pictures werent sharp as I thought. They should be considerate and go slower. Here's Jenson on the pit straight

As for the race, probably the most crucial bit was right in front of me, when Vettel got punted by Lewis and cut a tyre, here he comes back on track, note the right rear is off the rim, also Michael is kicking up the dust running wide out of Chapel, getting wupped by his teammate again.

What you don't get is the earsplitting racket, they now give out earplugs as you come in, so you can't sue for hearing loss. More later if I get time, and if anyone cares.
