Has anyone heard of a scammer with this profile or something similar?

All I know is she has 2 adult kids and looks after her mother. She works 50 hours a week for $100, she lives in Chaing Mai.

My dad is getting on a plane in 2 days to go meet her and I'm so afraid for him Confused

Without more information , there is not much than we can do.
ie what site did he meet her on ?
It is possible that she is not a scammer.

I'm not saying this thai lady is a scammer, but here is the little I've figured out about older Thai ladies who are online.

There are many middleaged Thai ladies online. Many are looking for a western man to marry, or at least live with them IN THAILAND and offer some financial support.
It's a bit unusual that many like the life they have there, and don't have much interest in leaving thailand, they just want some more financial security...and maybe some companionship. Of course, the lady may be mercenary and there could be a scam involved, but.....the scams from Thailand usually happen in Thailand.

Encourage him to have a backup plan......make sure he plans an 'escape route'...some hotel in a neutral city he can go to if things don't work out with this lady. He should also be firm about money. Not buying the poor uncle a new water buffalo, a fridge for the family, motorbike for the kid, etc. The incomes are low there, and they have a perverted view of western affluence. He's probably more likely to be scammed if he's wandering the country on his own, and is unfamiliar with the local culture...
Encourage him to do some research in the short time he has before he leaves. Wink
