I've recently been in touch with a woman from Ghana, initially meeting in a chat room, and now communicating on yahoo; whilst I'm pretty certain I've got a scammer there are 1 or 2 things which I find unusual; having read this and other forums.

She claims to be a 32 yr old widowed mother of 1, uses the names C and A, is caucasion, works as a secretary, has sent several photographs of a very attractive woman, some of her conversations have obviously been cut and pasted, particulalry regarding love and trust; and I've experienced some of them previously word for word.

However, we have spoken on camera and she is certainly the woman in the photographs, she has discussed financial matters but says she is fine, early days, and has posted pictures of her young "son", who to be frank is similar enough in looks to actually be her child.

As a man in his mid 50's who is not used to having attractive young women falling for him am I being overly cynical, and any advice as to how to play this one.

Interestingly the lady who used the some of same text was also Ghanian but I wouldn't class her as a scammer, rather as someone looking for a ticket out, declaring that you want 5 or 6 children in the first couple of conversations is not likely to ensnare many men, or possibly just a novice at the game.

Any advice or suggestions greatfully received.

Please supply some evidence, to enable us to make a judgement. a copy of any e-mails [remove your name first] And the all important e-mail headers. [again remove your details] also post any photo's she has sent you.

Also a link to the site you found her on, together with her membership number. if you have it, failing that a user name.

Then we can run all the normal checks, to see if she's posted elsewhere.

Might I suggest you also read all the "Stickies" to give you a better idea of what to look for. If you feel you can't make this info public, just Pm it to me, and I'll make it public. IF it does check out to be a potential scammer.

But from the little you have told us, it does show a few signs of a scammer

It's also possible to feed recorded video over a webcam, making it appear to be a live person.

A few scammers do this. You'll need to ask her to do something specific, at a specific time....not just 'wave'. Ask her to shift the cam to show you the room she is in......ask her to poin the cam at something you see in the room, something on the wall, furniture...anything.

In all my years baiting, and in talking to dating site owners...while there may be some attractive white girls in West Africa...they aren't lonely, desperate, and online. Wink

A google search shows the same text used at least once previously.

We first met on a chat forum which requires no registration, you can just sign in with any name as long as it is not in use; she used the name Celestine but also uses Annabelle, she claims a french father.

I haven't been able to match them so far.

The video feed for the webcam would make sense' she claimed to be using a cam at work but her cam at home won't work, suprise.

And yes, i very much take the point about white girls in west africa.

Still not sure what the scam is but expect I will soon find out, any advice welcome

I did wonder, she didn't strike me as needing to trawl the net looking for 50 year olds.

Ah well, I shall have some fun for a while anyway, I have spent some time absorbing the info here so should be able to play it for a while; I'm intrigued as to when the scam will appear, I shall keep you updated.
