Hate to do this, but I'm a Snopes addict and I remember seeing this on there. It's false - most of what's contained in that article is total claptrap (other than the fact that heart attack symptoms can vary). Here's the link to the Snopes page that debunks it:

Cold water actually increases your metabolism. Your body needs to work harder to warm the water up to normal body temperature.

But puzzle this one out .... if drinking cold water stimulates your metabolism to warm the fluid up .... then you're burning calories, right?

So does eating cold ice cream burn up more calories than it contains, thus becoming an aid to your diet?

100gms of ice cream warmed from 2C to 37C =100 x 35 = 3500 calories burned up! WOW gimme some quick Rolling Eyes

Its about 8 thousand (little) calories for one glass of water, divide that by a thousand to get the calories used in weight loss (not chemical equations) gives 8 Calories per glass. (Not taking in Thermodynamics)

There's a lot more calories in ice cream than water.

Reaper, I think your math is all f'd up. The concept of the warming of the body activated by cold icecream actually makes quite a bit of sense.
