This (copied at bottom) was posted by thalidomide child, in the fake sites section. It certainly smells like a scam. Notice some of the addresses in the email, sounds like there might be some baiters email addresses on the list.

The site www.titusfaithministries.org was just registered in Nov 2008. Since that time they have been busy getting the name on various lists of churches and ministries around the internet (do a google search on the name) and have a classified ad at:

This looks like a very easy bait. Also want to confirm 100% that it is a scam. I sent a quick little "I'm interested...tell me more" email and got an immediate response. Need help verifying if it is real or not.

Do you know it's a scam?. Noone bait it unless you are 100% sure.

I snipped the cc list, as CK says they are all ITP's. Thanks for reporting it Kate, on what grounds are you baiting it though?

The web site looks a little too elaborate to be a scammer (elaborate with aspects that are not directly related to raising money).

Domain Dossier says the site is relatively new (autumn, 2008) but otherwise it looks to be legit.

The site looks great. Note the admin phone # 12345678; also admin email is [email protected]

The phone on the web site comes back to a landline in india.

Agree with Bruin.

Site OK.

Unless other evidence forthcoming, perhaps a lad piggybacking on a real site.

I was jumping at shadows and regret that, I need to stop and read more and react less. One of my uncles is a thalidomide, hence my over-reaction.

Still no good reason to cry tally ho.

One of the bank accounts listed is to MADIWALA CHRIST CHURCH;

a google search on that finds 1 other church that had had their sites closed

Okay I'm obsessing but:

domaintools.com says the admin email is

ht*prak*[email protected] (remove *)

and says that email has 1 other domain listed but wants me to pay $57.00 to see it. Is there a site that will give me this info free?

You can get a whois client for your PC and get all the info.

In this case the only other email I can see is the tech contact with the same address.

Maybe it's a scam, but I wouldn't bait it. The chances of it being a real church are too great.

The domain is registered for one year with yahoo contact addresses, but the contacts look good otherwise and the website has had a lot of work done on it. The email address that the OP came from is hosted by Google and linked to the domain, but the website is hosted by Net4India rather than a cheap Googlesites one.

I haven't baited it. But I really don't feel it's legit. I sent an email to weebly.com asking if the previous site was closed due to fraud. No response yet of course. I don't even know if they will respond.

You can't. You also can't tell for certain if you do bait.

If they are a scam they are very good. My guess is that they are real.

Edit:

It is possible to detect scam charities. Those are parasites that use other real charities as their website and backstory. Or they have such a bad grasp of reality that they make stupid errors in their haste to get paid - like selling the children or something.

These guys have not done anything like that, and so my guess is that they are real, and they are certainly too likely to be real for it to be a good idea to bait them.

If you still don't want to let them go, then contact Prakash Prakash (sic) at [email protected] and ask him about the church website. Just say that they contacted you, you want to be sure they are a real church and you saw his email address as the domain contact. Of course, if he's a scammer too then he'll tell you they're fine, but if he is then either he's amazingly good - diginetlimited has been registered for nearly ten years - or he's so bad he's used his real name in a scam, which wouldn't make sense with the rest of it being so well constructed.

The zone has no A resource record, one invalid NS resource record, and no valid contact in SOA. Here's the contact information from the zone for the NS entries:

The invalid NS record is also used by:

log2host.com, jtiindia.com, ascentoverseas.com

Each of which has no A resource record and all except log2host also use google domain hosted gmail (MX). The latter of the two seem to be either entirely bogus or setup by a cretin.

It is perfectly reasonable for a first level domain not to have an A record.

www.titusfaithministries.org does have an A record. You couldn't see the web-page if it didn't.

The SOA and NS issues are created by the domain registrar, unless you are saying these domains are hacked into the DNS system illegally, without a registrar. I don't think that's a reasonable assumption.

According to the whois, the NS should be log2host.com
It seems to be working well enough, because we can see the records. If the name server is the same as the zone, do you need a valid NS record? (Granted you should have one.)

jtiindia.com looks like a bona-fide website created by someone who doesn't speak English fluently. Scammer's websites generally steal good English text from elsewhere on the net.

accentoverseas.com seems to be under construction, which means we can't tell one way or the other.

All three sites are created and maintained by Diginet. Occam's Razor says that Diginet do not know how to do DNS properly, and don't speak perfect English.

going to repost a bit of stuff re: Rev that I posted in Fake banks.

My vote..the Rev is legit. I've been emailing him for a while. Never asked for a
sou other than his first email asking for "whatever you can spare".
The guy's horse poor.

On impulse, (any mail with the word God in it gets TWAT pack auto-attachment)
I sent him the TWAT pack and low and behold he sent back 11 tortured
scanned pages fully completed with life history, ten ballpoint blue
fingerprints Laughing

and financial expectations.... hilarious really.

Sure, the Rev wants quadrillions to buy land and build a church.
....but what church doesn't? In his TWAT app he asked for church church and church.
No cars, chix or fur coats.

Sadly, (because he'd be a superb TWAT man), I started thinking about
his pitch last night and while rereading his email he jerked some sort of
nerve and I've reconsidered. I wrote him back saying the "church"
I was part of had undergone an IRS audit and the party was over.

After my last reply with the TWAT pack attached he scratched his head a bit
before jumping into the TWAT. It seems he was concerned about some
of TWAT's morals.

He showed up on the 419baiter's most recent email list. He just sent me a bank account which is in his name. I sent it to our bank friend before I read this thread. Oh well, the Indian authorities will check it out, the account is in Mumbai.

This seems way too legit. Leave this guy be please. The TWAT has many heartaches and should be left alone. I have had a couple Mumbai preachers contact the TWAT. Every one has been legit.
